Hi Kaychelle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve lived in Baltimore my whole life, worked 2 jobs while attending school and if I had a day off, I would make YouTube videos or go to/ Teach dance classes. I always knew I wanted to create content but I felt being in Baltimore was holding me back. It was hard finding people who did exactly what I did or who genuinely supported me. One day I decided to leave my life in Baltimore, pack up, & drive 10 & a half hours ALONE to a place I’ve never even been before, where I knew no one to start my 30-day journey. I bought an Airbnb for a month and decided I would push myself to see how much I could accomplish in a month on my own. If I couldn’t do it, I would go back to Baltimore… If I did ok, I would stay… I ended that 30-day journey with the keys to my own apartment. I did it & anyone else Can too!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
My car kept breaking down. Driving 10 and a half hours for the first time took a huge toll on my car and I had to invest so much money that I saved into that. It was also times I would question myself and if I made the right decision. I also constantly got denied for apartments while applying so I started to lose hope & think I would be going back to Baltimore.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I recently graduated from cortiva for esthetics. I now need to pass my state board to be considered an official esthetician. Back in Baltimore I use to teach dance classes on my free time while creating content as well. I Currently make content full time, skits on TikTok, YouTube, & now bringing all of my content to Instagram. What sets me apart from others is that I never gave up, even when I had no recognition, I never gave up on myself. I stayed consistent!
What makes you happy?
Doing what I love… I like to set goals for myself even if people think they are a bit unrealistic, but It’s because I know my full potential. I’ve always been the artistic kid, when I was younger, I would always write plays for everyone in the neighborhood and cast rolls, make dance groups and perform for the neighborhood parents, everything you could think of. That’s what brings me joy… creating
