Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Watts.
Laura, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
After raising four children, owning a needlepoint shop and being surrounded by color and creativity, I ventured into the world of art. My parents owned an art gallery and my father was an artist, so I guess I had it in my blood. I love exploring art and am constantly trying new techniques to continue learning. I have sold my works throughout the United States.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am probably best known for my florals, but I also sell a lot of large scale abstracts. I paint in oils, acrylics and inks. The thing that inspires me the most is nature and the use of color!
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Papers and boards are fun choices rather than canvas. Boards particularly are great for lots of layers and scraping back to see what beauty lies underneath the built-up paint. Sometimes painting over an old painting gives lots of texture and turns out to be the best!
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I am in the process of redoing my website. I do sell at shows but primarily on Facebook, Instagram and in boutiques.
