Today we’d like to introduce you to Aggi Aguilar.
Hi Aggi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a child, I was always a big fan of chocolate. I would eat just about anything that was made of or covered in chocolate. As a young adult now, I have often times made treats for my coworkers. This past Christmas in 2022, I made Christmas-themed chocolate-covered pretzels at my job just because I was in the spirit to do so. A lot of people complimented me on my pretzels and told me that they would love to buy some from me. This then opened the idea of starting my own treat business. I was a bit skeptical about it at first because I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, what I would make, the pricing, and everything else that comes with running a business but I took that step of creating my treat business and I am glad that I did so. People have been supportive of me and I believe that encouragement is what keeps me going.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I would say it has not been a smooth road so far. With every order I get, I find some kind of complication that I need to resolve. And every time, I adjust my habits and learn what works best for me and what will create a better outcome for my customers. For example, I was taking orders in person and keeping the orders in my note app on my phone. This made it a bit challenging with keeping orders organized and also made my treats inaccessible to potential customers. I wanted to find a simpler way for people to place their orders with me that could easily be submitted to me. I had the idea of creating an online form for people to fill out but in the process of doing so, I found a company that would not only provide me with an easy-to-use website but would help me organize and keep track of all my business details. This has made the ordering process a lot easier for customers and myself. It has also given me the opportunity to share my website on various social media apps and on my business cards. I am still in the beginning stages of my business and will always be finding new and better ways to keep it running smoother but with every issue I come across, I am able to find a solution.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am currently working part-time at a warehouse and also running my business from home part-time. I am hoping to get to the point where I can run my business full-time so I can spend more time doing what I enjoy most. My specialty items would be my chocolate-covered strawberries, chocolate-covered pretzel rods, and cake pops. I would say I am most known for my chocolate-covered strawberries. I am proud of taking that leap of faith and creating this business. I have never before had a business of my own nor did I ever anticipate on me creating one but it has been wonderful receiving all the love and support I get from people. I am happy I started doing this and I am proud of myself for coming out of my comfort zone and putting myself out there. I’d say what sets me apart from others would be my willingness to achieve any design a customer would want. Not every pastry maker or baker is willing to create something that is very bold or not appropriate to their standards. I on the other hand am willing to do so.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
As a child, I was very friendly, adventurous, and bold. I am the youngest out of my mother’s three children and I have two older brothers who I always wanted to keep up with. I never let anything or anyone tell me I couldn’t do what they were doing. If they were climbing trees or jumping off roofs, so was I. Anywhere I went, I was always talking to people and making new friends. I was also very observant and inquisitive. If I would find something that would peek my interest, I would have to investigate and find out more for myself, regardless of what it was. This more than likely stems from my love of the TV show CSI: Miami. I’ve always loved a good puzzle to solve.
I have has always been the artistic type of person. Ever since I was a child, I would draw numerous of things in my sketchbooks and come up with different designs for different things such as T-shirts or tattoos. I was also very athletic. I started dancing at the age of three and continued to do so for the majority of my life. I also played various sports such as soccer, softball, and basketball but my favorite was track and field. Aside from dancing, running became my second love. I started running at the age of 12 and continued on until I was 17. I was very much into video games. I played all sorts of games on different systems. I am one of the biggest Sims lovers there are. I have been playing The Sims since I was about eight years old and I still to this day play it on a regular basis.
