Check Out Ahmad Bizzell’s Story

Hi Ahmad, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
J Bizz also known as Bizz, is an entrepreneur, artist, philanthropist, visionary and author originally from Richmond, Virginia. Bizz is sought after for his many talents involving business, arts, and community. His art has always been geared towards uplifting the spirits of those that experience it. Bizz lives by two mantras “Be the change you want to see” and “Be a value to everyone encountered”. The journey has had its ups and downs however many lessons were learned through it all. The road to relocating to Atlanta alone was a 12-year process.  Those pivotal years helped to groom me into the person I am today. I learned skills that have placed me in rooms that I never thought I’d be in. I’m grateful for everyone that has helped with my dreams and visions as well.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve been through a lot as an entrepreneur during these past years. I’ve encountered obstacles such as learning and creating systems, vetting and hiring people, creating a culture, always using logic in business and very little emotion, learning how to blend my artistic abilities together so that I am not doing too much, balancing personal and business, and so many other challenges.

It’s always a humbling experience when overcoming any adversity. It’s an assurance that all things are possible and you just have to be willing to go through the processes. I recently wrote and self-published a self-help workbook, titled “Bout Bizzness”, which uses my life story and challenges to help others with their own.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
By trade I am a master barber instructor focusing on film, tv, and entertainment. My clients range from artists, producers, entrepreneurs, hard workers, and creatives that value convenience. My business Brand New Wave is the company I practice my trade within. Brand New Wave was created back in 2015 in Richmond, VA. Our Atlanta location is the third location we’ve opened under the Brand New Wave umbrella. What makes this location so unique is that it’s our first mobile barbershop, in which we travel to our clients and perform services within our mobile sprinter van. When it’s time to create music I conduct that within my company Ten10 Entertainment. Ten10 was a platform created in 2009 when I began to take music more seriously. Now Ten10 is a platform for other creatives to live their dreams and live their passions. Through the Ten1o brand, I’ve been able to write and publish books, music, videos, jingles, collaborate with other creatives, travel the world and so much more.

When it’s time to give back I conduct all my initiatives within my 501C3 non-profit, Brand New Wave Cares. Brand New Wave Cares mission is to be a platform for social and economic change within black and minority communities. Our vision is to be a helping hand in creating a world where people of color are sustainable and exemplifiers of excellence. Over the years we have held numerous programs for the youth and given back countless school supplies, money, and resources to my hometown, Richmond, VA.
