Check Out Alexa McDonald’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexa McDonald.

Hi Alexa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always used plastic bags and multiple shower caps to protect hairstyles in between showers. After wasting money on low-quality caps, I had enough and decided to create a cap to protect my hair, preserve, hairstyles and save money on hair maintenance costs. I wanted a cap that could fit my medium-length natural hair as well as my 70-inch braids that I wore occasionally. After years of testing and cap modifying, I finally perfected my creation, taking the mundane shower cap and made it not only beautiful but more useful than ever. Designed in USA, my mission was to create luxe and unique accessories made from quality materials that become a must have for men and women everywhere. It all started with a shower cap and my business has grown. I know sell bonnets, robes, durags, loc socs, masks and Shower-caps.

I strive to create the best unisex ultimate crown products on the market.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In January 2021, I tried to raise 20k to be able to manufacture my caps. Six people supported my fundraiser. I raised around $600, but I didn’t reach my goal, so I ended up with $0. I was disappointed and frustrated. An ex-friend told me maybe it’s for good reason, “ain’t nobody buying a pricey shower cap.” I kept going and started @alwayscovered on my birthday 8/25/21 after months of saving. Fast forward to 2022, business is booming. I look back, thank God, and trust him while I look forward to thanking him and trusting in him. I want to tell aspiring entrepreneurs to stop procrastinating and start that business in 2022! It’s our time.

I am having trouble getting more exposure. I feel like I will have more sales if more people knew about my brand. I also applied for shark tank.
