Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Finch.
Hi Alexis, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hello! I go by Lex or @Wegolive13. I am an amateur photographer, videographer, and music enthusiast! My projects, and associated social media, started with “…the love of the show!” one of my phrases, & a way of life! All jokes aside, my main objective with the WeGoLive project is to capture moments, both big and small, within the Atlanta music community. The scene is ever-evolving, and watching talented people put on events, from artists to production, is amazing! We are currently focusing on our Instagram and YouTube, but hoping to expand the project in the near future. Check us out for music photography, concert clips, and festival insights!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life is always going to throw something at you. In the past finding creative spark has been a struggle! Whether it’s paying bills, working full time, balancing relationships, or mental health and self-care, there’s always an excuse for letting “adulting” get in the way of your passions. To anyone struggling: just keep trying your best, balance your life as much as possible and roll with the punches! Don’t ever stop dreaming; fight for what you love, and pursue your interests and passions. Life is too short; let’s have fun.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Paid work in the arts is the dream, isn’t? I have spent over a decade in the service industry, mostly in restaurants, managing and bartending. I worked hard over the years and have gained a lot of life experience out of it, but eventually, I would like to make creating, and event work my main source of income. I have slowly branched out into volunteer and paid work in events and music venues. I feel like a jack of all trades and am making strides to find my place in our community!
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Always work hard, play hard, and just do the dang thing! I wish I had been motivated sooner to push my anxieties behind me. So I say take that picture you want to, apply for that dream job, see the places you want to see. Again, life is too short to hold yourself back. Push yourself, loved ones, and your community to be their best, for ourselves and each other!
