Check Out Amy Asevedo’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Asevedo.

Hi Amy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out as a stay-at-home mom and a bit of a gym rat. One day I wandered into a yoga class and was completely blown away. Something about the breath, the movement, the way I felt afterward – it just stuck with me. It was the first time I really felt connected to my body in a deeper way. And honestly, that’s where it all began.

As my family grew, so did my passion for helping others reconnect with their own bodies. I became a yoga teacher and went on to do two full years of intensive study in movement and anatomy – and I’ve been a perpetual student ever since.

Somewhere in the middle of all that, I became a Board-Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach because I wanted to understand how food, stress, and lifestyle impact the body just as much as movement does. I knew I didn’t want to stop at just “fitness” or “flexibility” – I wanted to help people feel amazing from the inside out.

That led me to personal training, and I became a NASM-certified trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist, working with people to build strength, mobility, and real-life body confidence. But I kept hitting this wall – especially with clients dealing with chronic pain, postural issues, or emotional stress – and I realized I needed more tools.

So I enrolled in massage therapy school, thinking I’d learn how to support recovery and measure range of motion… and it turned into something much bigger. It became a calling. I found myself holding space for people in pain – not just physical pain, but nervous system overwhelm, grief, stress, all of it. That’s when I really stepped into the integrative side of what I do.

Now, my work brings all of that together – movement, breath, strength training, fascia-focused bodywork, manual lymphatic drainage, and functional nutrition. My passion is the body – understanding it, honoring it, and helping people feel empowered, strong, and incredible in their skin.

I specialize in body recomposition, intuitive eating, and nervous system-informed recovery, and I believe deeply in meeting people where they are. Whether someone comes to me for pain relief, strength building, lymphatic support, or deep wellness, they’re getting a space that’s trauma-aware, approachable, and built around their unique biology.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, it’s been a pretty smooth road, not because it was always easy, but because I’ve always trusted my gut. I’m someone who’s led by spirit and instinct, and that’s guided every step I’ve taken. The biggest challenges I’ve faced weren’t in the work itself, but in trying to work for other people. I eventually realized I’m someone who needs to be in charge of my own path – especially when it comes to my business. I thrive when I have the freedom to build something aligned with my values and vision.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I consider myself an integrative bodyworker. The term ‘massage therapy’ can feel a little too limited – it often conjures up a narrow idea of what bodywork actually is. What I offer goes far beyond that. I provide both clothed, movement-informed sessions and medically informed treatments like manual lymphatic drainage. Most of my clients are managing chronic pain or lymphatic conditions such as lymphedema, lipedema, or inflammatory issues like rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. My approach is personalized, clinically grounded, and always centered around the nervous system.

What matters most to you? Why?
Integrity. At the end of the day, I have to be able to look at myself in the mirror. I run my business 100% on authenticity and integrity – it’s the foundation of everything I do. I don’t cut corners, and I don’t do anything that doesn’t align with who I am.
