Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Lorenza.
Hi Ana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I basically started dancing when I was in the womb. I started dancing in church, and then I would get invited to dance with different worship teams. I only started taking it pretty seriously in late 2019, early 2020 when I was living in San Diego, California. I always enjoyed bringing anyone in my community together to dance and record. It is so fun to see my thoughts and ideas and movement come to life. I stayed being consistent with posting on Instagram. It came to the point in my life where I was dancing so much, so my sister, Lily Garay, really helped me and opened my eyes to the fact that I could actually do this professionally and not just as a hobby. She helped me get my first payed Tik Tok inquiry and after that, the bookings haven’t stopped. With posting on Tik Tok and Instagram combined, the videos reached who they needed to, and more people booked! I give God all the glory for getting me where I am today! I am now living in the area of Atlanta and am pursuing the love I have for dance.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This has definitely not been a smooth road. I had to learn very quickly who was only trying to be in my circle to get “clout” or to get their own social media views higher. I learned who was there to genuinely support me and my team. I have had people come and go. It was extremely difficult to witness and learn that some others in the industry would do anything to get to a “higher” level. It has been difficult at times, but I thank God for getting me through all the lessons and making me stronger because of it. One thing about a road though, there will be bumps, but there will also be smooth pavement that helps the drive be even smoother.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a hip hop dancer and enjoying every moment of it. Most know me for the Tik Toks me and my team post. It has been so cool to be in spaces and meet people and they know exactly who I am and a team member! I am a person of faith, and I believe that God is so real. He is the only way. With that being said, what I am most proud of, is being able to have a team that dances for the glory of God. We dance to Christian Hip Hop (CHH) and choose music that sends a good message, a clean message, and even a message that speaks about to goodness of God or anything that is glorifying the Lord. This is what makes us different. We do not dance to just anything, we aim for ALL ages to be able to watch us perform and to be able to hear the music in the background 🙂
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I know what I am about to say is way easier said than done. Please. PLEASE do not be afraid of what others think. A lot of people wish they could have a high following and for people to “know” them, but don’t understand what it comes with. Be ready for a lot of eyes to be on you. Even though there will be “eyes on you,” never fall into the trap of caring what they think. Ever. There will always be someone coming against what it is you’re doing. Keep dancing. Keep posting. Keep PRAYING! Stay focused on God, and He will help you.
