Today we’d like to introduce you to Andre Lorde-Mckenzie.
Andre, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started as a music artist/songwriter back in 2017 while I was in high school. Music has been a huge passion of mine. I would always be writing rhymes on my phone or always creating it as a way for me to communicate without directly telling people what I’m thinking or emotions.
While I was in high school, I dropped a couple of songs on the sound cloud under my personal stage name “Dre Lorde”. I’ve created a little buzz in high school (Automotive High School) with that name while rapping. The first-ever song that I’ve dropped was called ‘Risk Zone” featuring an artist from the tv show called the Rap Game called Jordan Air Young.
Since then, I’ve dropped a few more till I reached college, as I got to college I got into fashion. In my freshman year of college, I felt like I could add spice to the streetwear culture with Legendary Lorde. Starting a business allowed me to see how the e-commerce/fashion business operates, it’s very similar to the music business. Now that I’m in my junior year of college and I’ve grown more I can honestly say Legendary Lorde and Dre Lorde will be adding a lot more to the culture slowly.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s 50/50. When running a business there’s no such thing in my opinion of having a smooth road. I would say one struggle for me that I’ve struggled with within the past years is support. As you grow and elevate in life in whatever career choice you choose you would see that strangers support you more through your journey.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Currently, I’m a songwriter & fashion designer. I’m known more for my music because I’m freshly new to the fashion industry. I’m proud of everything I do, and I’m blessed to be able to pursue it. But what I’m most proud of is seeing where I am today. I’ve grown so much since last year.
I’m learning and growing everyday. What sets me apart from everybody is my unique names “Legendary Lorde & “Dre Lorde” and my ambition.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something surprising that most people don’t know about me is that I’m an introvert. A lot of people think that I’m an extrovert but I would rather watch a movie comfortably in my house eating Hot wings with fries and a sprite lol.
