Check Out Andre Wilson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andre Wilson.

Andre, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I used to work at a warehouse right down the street from my house. I have always loved to cook, so I would bring food from home to eat on my lunch break. One of my homeboys asked if he could pay me to cook him a steak and bring it to work. I brought him a steak plate to work that next day and when my other co-workers realized what happened, they also began to put in their own requests. From then, it was on and popping! I started making plates every day for my co-workers which eventually turned into me posting plates on my social media and delivering them all over the city. About a year later, I quit my job and began selling plates full-time. Although selling pates got me out of my warehouse job, I knew I couldn’t see myself doing it forever. I began to get inquiries about catering and went from selling plates out of my kitchen to catering events out of professional kitchens and cooking in celebrity homes.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The ride hasn’t been smooth at all. As with any new venture, there was trial and error and it required a lot of hard work. The first time I quit my job things not did work out like I thought they would and I had to go back to my warehouse job. That was one of the hardest times. But I stayed consistent and the next time I quit my job, I was ready and have never looked back. Some days are better than others, but every day is worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a professional chef that specializes in southern cuisine. I am most known for my viral mac and cheese and my grilled lamb chops. I am most proud of how my business has grown over the years and the love and support I receive from others. What sets me apart is my flavor and my ability to turn your favorite southern dishes into new favorites.

What matters most to you?
What matters to me most is my family and showing my kids that anything really is possible. It’s not just a saying, I am a living witness.
