Check Out Angela Fedrick-Lewis’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Fedrick-Lewis.

Angela, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story starts as a young girl growing up in the Ben Hill area of Southwest Atlanta. There, I discovered many of my gifts through church and dedicated teachers that encouraged me in the areas of writing and singing. I was always told that I was here for a purpose other than for myself. I am a survivor of two open-heart surgeries as an infant and despite all the statistics, I came out with no medical complications or hindrances by the grace of God. As I began performing in local talent shows for singing and entering writing contests and winning, I auditioned and was accepted into the magnet program at North Atlanta High School for the Performing Arts. The experience introduced me to new cultures and aided both my love for the Arts and helped to cultivate my skills. Throughout that journey, I knew I wanted to merge both my ability to express through the Arts and my desire to minister, uplift and inspire others creatively.

This became the foundation of my company, Mojo Media Online LLC. Mojo stands for “Motivating Others, Journaling Originality.” After earning my bachelor’s degree in Mass Media Arts with a concentration in Journalism from Clark Atlanta University, I began creating a small team to create an online magazine that not only focuses on telling the stories of inspirational people but provides networking opportunities, services, merchandise and information on events to support personal, spiritual and professional wellness. As a gospel and inspirational singer and songwriter, I also utilized the platform to produce music and authored my first book, “Moving Mountains: How I learned To Love God’s Way,” in 2013. It was a combination of growth, personal struggle and a strong sense of purpose within my faith that has allowed me to create and operate Mojo Media Online, LLC. I seek to utilize media and the Arts as a way to empower and uplift our communities.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some challenge has been reaching a point of transparency, where I can share my struggles and flaws as a way to help others. As a writer and music artist, I have learned that authenticity is important to connect with people. I understand that my story is still being written. While dealing with divorce, personal losses and relocation, God has continued to use it all to strengthen me and help me to better connect with the people divinely placed in my path to help and support.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the founder of Mojo Media Online LLC and its subsidiary Mojo Music (record label). I operate as both a writer for the online magazine and a gospel/Inspirational artist on the Mojo Music label under the stage name “Angela Monique” (my first and middle name). My music may be found on all music streaming platforms and I also have credits as a songwriter and backing vocalist for other music artists in a variety of genres. Additionally, I am a published author and seek to utilize media and the Arts to inspire and uplift others.

What sets me and my business apart from others is that Mojo Media Online LLC is accessible over the world wide web and is most interested in helping others get the resources they need to be successful, rather than just making profits off of products. The company utilizes its online magazine to inspire and motivate its readers while offering resources in the form of books, music, services and hosted events (local and/or remote) to encourage entrepreneurship and overall wellness.
It is a one-stop hub for positive reinforcement and an awesome media source to motivate and encourage a fellow creative.

I am most proud of the evolution that has occurred as a result of me following my passions and purpose. One important moment was when my former college professor (Professor Mcjunkins) added my book as an assignment for journalism students to read and discuss. I was sent multiple great reviews and insights from so many Clark Atlanta University students, who were now sitting where I once was, to begin their own amazing journey. He is a professor I respect tremendously and was extremely touched to receive his support and respect.

I am always thankful to be able to pour out and learn that doing so has impacted a life in a positive way. I am also very proud of the many partnerships with non-profits and businesses generated through Mojo Media Online LLC. With their support, I am able to establish the Pen Power Mentoring program that focuses on helping children ages 12-15 find their voice and learn creative writing skills through free workshops in the summer.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I have learned the importance of being able to pivot and embrace change. Thankfully, my business is already set up to operate online, but I encourage others to be sure to create a business that can still operate remotely. I also learned that time is not guaranteed and it is important to not allow fears or anything else to hold you back from pursuing your goals. It is also important to prioritize the people and things in life that are not replaceable.
