Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Boulier.
Anna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always believed that design is more than what you see; it’s how something makes you feel. Owl Simply Design began as a small dream in a coffee shop with a sketchbook, a laptop, and a deep desire to help people tell their stories with clarity and heart.
My background in writing and branding collided when I realized that many small business owners and authors struggled to create a cohesive, confident presence. They had the heart, but not the visual voice. That’s where I found my calling in helping small business owners bridge the gap between story and strategy through brand design that feels real and deeply personal.
Over the years, I’ve worked with authors, nonprofits, and small businesses, building identities that reflect not just what they do, but why they do it. I’ve created tools, templates, and brand systems that empower them to show up confidently and consistently.
Today, Owl Simply Design has grown far beyond logos and colors; it’s about transformation. It’s about helping clients rediscover their own voice and fall in love with their business again. Every project is personal, every story matters, and I still get that same thrill I did with my first design when watching someone light up when their brand finally feels like them.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I don’t think it’s supposed to be.
Building Owl Simply Design has been a journey of learning to balance creativity, confidence, and calling. There were seasons where I questioned everything, whether I was good enough, whether people really needed what I offered, and how to build something sustainable while staying true to my values.
As a creative, imposter syndrome has been a loud companion. I had to learn that excellence doesn’t require perfection and that success doesn’t mean doing it all at once. I also navigated health challenges and seasons of burnout that forced me to slow down, reevaluate, and rebuild from a place of purpose instead of pressure.
But every bump taught me something valuable. I’ve learned that growth comes in layers, that clarity takes time, and that running a heart-led business means giving yourself grace along the way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Owl Simply Design, I help small business owners and authors uncover the story behind their brand, and then bring it to life through intentional, heartfelt design. My work isn’t about chasing trends or creating something that “looks pretty.” It’s about helping people build a foundation that reflects who they are, what they value, and why they do what they do.
My process is a little different from most. Every project begins with The Owl Investigate Session, a deep dive that feels part interview, part creative therapy. We don’t just talk about logos or colors; we uncover the story, emotion, and mission behind the brand. Clients often leave that session with clarity they didn’t expect, because sometimes, you have to step back before you can move forward.
From there, I guide them through an Owl Brand Up, which is a two-day immersive process where we take everything we’ve uncovered and turn it into a visual and strategic identity. By the end, they don’t just have a logo, they have a complete brand story, a toolkit, and the confidence to consistently and authentically show up.
I’m most proud of how personal the process feels. My clients often say, “You put words and visuals to what I’ve always felt but couldn’t explain.” That’s what sets Owl Simply Design apart; it’s not just design work, it’s soul work.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t really believe in luck, at least not in the random sense. I believe in purpose. Every open door, delay, or detour has played a part in shaping both my life and my business.
There have been moments that others might call “good luck,” such as meeting the right person at just the right time or landing a dream client unexpectedly, but I view those as part of God’s timing, not coincidence.
And the hard seasons, the ones that looked like “bad luck,” were often where the most growth happened. They forced me to slow down, listen, and realign my work with what truly matters.
So instead of luck, I’d say faith, perseverance, and grace have played the most significant roles in my journey. They’ve kept me grounded, grateful, and open to where this creative path leads next.
