Check Out Anthony Vanheyningen’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Vanheyningen

Hi Anthony, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Throughout high school, I ran a vintage business that sparked my initial love for clothes. As I developed my business, I began to explore modifications I could do to clothes; bleaching, dying, and painting all the older clothes I had to give new life to the older inventory I had. Eventually, I began sewing to get my ideas onto fabric and work and repurpose the recess fabric I saw while buying for my business. Sewing became what I spent all my time doing until I released my first collection for wäne my senior year of high school. I’ve continued to work and further my craft through my textiles degree at Kennesaw State University

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest challenge has been figuring out how to work consistently and manage my life outside of work. I can get some little tunnel vision on my ideas at times which puts strain on my relationships but I’ve been much better with finding that balance the older I get.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work mainly focuses on reworks, scratch emblems, and creating garments from scratch. My motto is “As long as there’s enough fabric, I can work with it” The big thing I feel sets me apart is my subjective taste helps me to get the best possible matches for the fabric I’m using and the garment I’ll be working with. I’m known for my scab patches and the wäne wear I make. The religious work I make and my website are my biggest points of pride. I love being able to go back and have a working catalog of all of my work from the very beginning.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
There is no time like the present, don’t leave that idea till tomorrow.
