Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Gauthier.
Ashley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my construction journey when I moved back to North Georgia in 2016, looking for a company to work for that was close to home. After applying for an office manager position at a local gc, I was hired and began learning.
Once I started to understand and learn everything, I spent five years working for a few different general contractors working on either operations or preconstruction. Beginning of 2021, I went and estimated/business development for a subcontractor (company) for two years. Mid-year 2022, I realized everything I was doing was according to what someone else thought was “ok” and I didn’t agree with particular situations that arose. AKA Constructors LLC was created summer of 2022 and started accepting jobs fall of 2022. We are a construction company who primarily focuses on remodeling or tenant build-outs for both residential and commercial properties. Lately, we have started becoming a part of new construction properties depending on the client. It’s extremely rewarding when you see the hard work you do on a daily basis come to life and can make a difference in the construction industry. We can cater to anyone who needs assistance whether it be a bathroom remodel, basement to be finished, or a commercial property that needs to be built.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not, everyone can wish though right? The construction industry as a whole is ever-evolving, pricing for material and labor changes, and pandemics happen which causes additional lead times on key items. Projects don’t ever go the way they should. You just learn the roll with the punches and keep pushing.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
AKA Constructors LLC is a woman-owned construction company. We can handle any renovation when it comes to residential houses (bathroom remodel, new paint, reconfiguration of a home, basement finishing). Having been in the commercial world for eight years, I couldn’t help but try and stay in it as much as possible. In the commercial side of AKA Constructors, we can assist in tenant build-outs, project improvements, or be a part of a new construction project.
I’m most proud that I’ve done this on my own. I didn’t have family that backed me monetarily or a company that was handed down to me. I have started a company from the ground up and able to grow it as I see fit.
The AKA Constructors sets apart from others is every project is important to us. We want the homeowner or owner of the commercial building to have their visions come to life. If we know of a different way to construct what they want and it could be more economical, we will suggest it. We are here to help them and continue to build a partnership throughout the years, vs. just completing one project and moving on.
