Today we’d like to introduce you to Ayana Gidron.
Hi Ayana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started Adult Supervision Needed because business has always been my passion. Being the change I want to see in the world is my top priority. Creating spaces where people can simply exist as their authentic selves is the most important part of what I do now. Sharing that mission across so many different avenues; whether through events, podcasts, or merchandise. It is the icing on the cake for me. Connecting with people in so many different ways is truly the most rewarding part of this journey.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course not. It hasn’t been a smooth road. I sold everything in my home and moved over 300 miles away to start over at 29, with nothing but a deep belief that I deserved everything I dreamed of in this lifetime. I work late nights and early mornings. A lot goes into planning, preparing, and pushing forward, but none of it is in vain.
The challenges have made me appreciate the journey even more. If I want it, I have to be the one to create the space for it. I have to be the one to clear the path. No one else can do that for me. Success doesn’t just happen. It’s built. And for what I’m working to build, showing up isn’t optional.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a creative entrepreneur and community builder. I specialize in creating intentional, affirming spaces for Black queer people to feel seen, heard, and celebrated. Through Adult Supervision Needed, I produce sold-out events, host Another Lesbian Podcast, design custom merchandise, and lead motivational projects like Somebody Fine Ass Daughter. I’m also the creator of Gymbait, a fitness brand that represents strength, confidence, and bold self-expression.
What I’m most proud of is that every project I launch is rooted in authenticity. I don’t create just to sell. I create to connect. I care about building things that feel good and do good. I care about people walking into something I’ve made and feeling like they don’t have to be anything other than themselves.
What sets me apart is that I’m not afraid to lead with heart. I don’t wait for permission. I don’t follow a formula. I make space where space didn’t exist before, and I am unapologetic about being me and constantly encourage others in doing the same!
