Today we’d like to introduce you to Bakari Blocton. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Everything is Awesome! is the motto that Bakari Blocton believes and speaks into existence every day. Born in the ATL and growing into a little man who can hold his own in the acting profession, Bakari set his goals at the age of two of being on the big screen. He said it so much while singing and dancing to his favorite shows that two years later his parents decided to sign him up with Central Casting in Atlanta, GA. His first call was a featured background role in the movie “Uncle Drew”. Although the scene did not make the cut after edits, Bakari’s background performance as an orphan was seen for a split second at the beginning of the movie. This motivated him to want to do more. After a few more background jobs, Bakari landed a photo double position for Season One of Netflix’s “Raising Dion”. Being on set regularly motivated Bakari to want to attend acting classes. Five months after starting to train, Bakari was offered several contracts. This inspired Bakari to want even more, so he is continually adding to his toolbox, now training to be a triple threat at AGI Entertainment located in Marietta, GA. He is currently signed to Pantheon Talent Group based in L.A.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not exactly. When I first signed my very first contract, it was March 3, 2020 and days later the world began shutting down due to Covid 19. In addition, all of my training classes and activities became non-existent for a while and then all virtually, which was boring and not the same as being in person. Being a newly signed actor/model and getting no bookings was discouraging.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an actor, singer and model. I would say acting is my specialty, especially comedic roles. I have done voice-over work, commercials, short films, series, film and print. I am known for always staying upbeat and energetic despite what happens. I am most proud of the most recent film I just completed, “Stalked Within” which will premiere this fall on BET and BET+. I play the role of Jalen Greene and this movie is a thriller where we just relocate to a new city and my mom and I are being stalked by a crazy guy. I would say my mood is what sets me apart from others. I am always going to make the best out of everyday and be happy no matter what. I can be seen on Nickelodeon’s limited series “Little Lens”, as myself speaking on the meaning of my name and martial arts. Episode 3 of The Game which is on Paramount Plus. On the cover of Creative Soul Photography’s 2022 Heirs calendar and the month of July. Also, in the children’s book, “The Me I Chose To Be”. I am currently on the Live to the beat Heart Healthy campaign commercial.
Upcoming projects: Creative Soul Photography’s Disney Cruise Ship campaign, I will be a guest on Elvin Ross’s new show “Who’s Got Next”, that will air on PBS. “Roadkill”, a thriller movie where I play a witness set to debut later this year, “Complicated” season 2, as the role of Tristan Lawrence, which is a series currently airing on Tubi. I have filmed several pilots last year and this year that hopefully will make it the big screen.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
LOL. I am still a work in progress being that I just turned 10 January 9th of this year. I would say I have a lot more growing up to do. Personality-wise I see myself currently as being a bit naive, not knowing about what can be ahead of me but I still don’t let that get in the way of where I see myself going and where I feel I belong. I am modest and just enjoy being a kid. Most people say I have a charismatic energy and happy spirit. I love gaming, volunteering, helping others and family time. My long-term goal is to grow my business and provide a positive outlet in my community where kids of all ages can come to play and be creative.
