Check Out Belisse Linton’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Belisse Linton.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I originally made my business page as a makeup page. I’ve always loved playing in makeup and would always try to do my own. When I made the page, I posted all the makeup I’ve done on myself so as I got better and posted more, people would see the growth in my work. As time progressed, I started to learn new talents, the next skill I added to my page was faux locs. Randomly my friend asked me to do some on her, it was my first try and not my best one but certainly not the last one. I kept going and kept practicing then eventually started posting and receiving clients. I didn’t stop there, I started looking into apprenticeships for piercings and started doing those as well. My page primarily became for hair and piercings because my makeup skills hadn’t been as good as I wanted them so I got discouraged. After giving makeup a break for a while, I decided I needed to start again and work harder. I started seeing changes in my makeup however I still wasn’t getting booked. I thought how am I going to show my skills in a way to get others interested? A photoshoot! I gathered a team of some amazing friends and some new ones to help me bring my vision to life, and just like that it happened! I didn’t stop at just makeup and hair for the shoot, I added nails. I had secretly been learning how to do nails so I could add it to my services. I posted my progress with my nail journey and my followers went crazy with the support! The nails and makeup clients took a while to come in but the wait was worth it when I see where I am now. I have clients that book me for every service I provide. I am very pleased and proud of the work I have done every bit of work was worth it. I am especially thankful for my friend that pushed me the whole way and supported me every step of the way and helped me whenever I needed help. Without her, I don’t think I would’ve made it where I am today. Thank you Martie! I love my business, I love the happiness I am able to bring to my clients and I love what I do and I am looking forward to expanding and maybe even rebranding!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There were moments of discourage and no clients at all which made me feel like my business as a whole was going to flop especially because as soon as business started to pick up, Covid started.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in faux locs however I love doing makeup and nails more because of the creative I’m able to tap into whether it’s my own creativity or my clients!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I like that I’m a good distance from everywhere I’m not too far. I dislike that when I’m in school, I’m far but I do provide travel services.
