Check Out Beverly White’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beverly White.

Hi Beverly, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In His Image Outreach 501 (c) 3, which originally started as Creative Sunsets began in 1999. We began as a Medicaid provider for Therapeutic Child Treatment. At the same time that I was Visionary for In His Image Outreach I worked as a Teacher at a local Christian school. When business increased at In His Image Outreach, I put in my resignation. Parents then requested that I began a school of my own. I found out that I had the necessary credentials and only needed to apply to a school Association. Doors to Trinity Christian Educational School opened with seven students in my home on August 2004. I’ve felt blessed to be noted as the first black woman in Anderson County to begin a school. At this time we continue to serve students K4 -12th virtually and on-site in Anderson SC. The students we serve have come from Anderson, Abbeville, Greenwood, Greenville, Honea Path-and more Upstate cities-, and Georgia to receive TCES_SUCCESS. We are elated to serve the families and provide academic, biblical, emotional/mental, and social education to them daily. We believe that all people can learn they just need to be shown how to learn. Our students have gone on the attend colleges like Anderson University, Lander, USC Columbia, USC Upstate, Coastal Carolina University, etc.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The smoothest road was that I knew my purpose and was determined not to stop In His Image. Other than that there have been many challenges. The biggest challenge has been financially. I saw that parents did not want to pay for our services because they could get them free in public school and that it was hard to get grants and private finders for a Christian School. This led to financial difficulties at times. I started doing other jobs so that services could continue. Then the next challenge started-lol- I became worn or burnt out. I had to learn that services like those we provide are valuable and people must pay for them. Now though we do need more sponsors, things are better.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

Trinity Christian Educational School is our K-12th grade school. Your Creations is our mobile painting adventures branch. Encouraging Words is our up-and-coming bookstore where my publications will be on sale. Currently, I have written several books and published one: Married Yet Single, Come Closer Series. At In His Image Outreach church services we provide Lay Aside and weekly services that help persons heal and learn who they are. I am mainly known in the community for teaching others. I am happy to serve my community in productive ways. What sets me apart is the amount of talents and abilities that God has given me to serve others.

I am also a real estate agent. I love helping people find that space and home that they are looking for.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I have learned that it is easy to hide what you have on the inside, but dreadful to hide and not give of yourself. Many times I wanted to stay away from people and not share who I am. In the long run that has hurt me and those who I am assigned to help. Now I have decided that it is my unique talents that set me free and give me peace. Giving myself freely is what makes me happy.
