Check Out Blessing Seaton’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blessing Seaton.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
You’re probably wondering what I do for a living? Well, I’m a makeup artist a self-taught makeup artist. I’ve been interested in the beauty industry since I was 13 and I decided to start teaching myself all the things I needed to know to do my own makeup. A lot of people used to tell me when I started doing my makeup that I was really talented and I kept learning and learning until I am where I am now. I am now 18 years old and I started my makeup business “BeatzByBlessing LLC” at the age of 16 and got my LLC at the age of 17 with the state. I also wanted people to feel beautiful in their own skin and I wanted to enhance the beauty they already have with doing their makeup. Doing makeup is my passion my clientele has grown in my state pretty well but I would like to venture out in different states and show my work to other people. I also have an upcoming business called “Ivorybeauty cosmetics” and I’ve been planning it for two years now, hopeful everything falls into place.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, Because I feel like there has been so many other makeup artists in my state and other people are going to them and that’s not a bad thing people need to grow their clientele, but it has not been smooth route for me just because I used to get so many clients a day and being a makeup artist was my full-time job basically when I was 16 and 17 but now growing my clientele has been very slow paced. I noticed building your brand takes time and I’m taking my time when it comes to building my clientele.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Hi my name is Blessing Seaton and I specialize in makeup. I am a self-taught makeup artist and I’ve been doing this for three years now. I recently just got my LLC not too long ago to be authorized with the state to do what I’m doing now. I’m known for being the youngest makeup artist in my state basically I started doing makeup at 15 and I’m 18 now. Anytime I would go somewhere or go out to eat people recognize me and they’ll be like “oh it’s the girl who does Makeup oh that’s Blessing she’s the girl who does make up” And I would be shocked because I didn’t know people recognize me that way and I would have clients from state to state. I am most proud of my makeup studio. I decided to turn my basement into my makeup studio last year with the help of my friend who is good at interior designing and the help of my older brother who’s good at building stuff. What sets me apart from others is that my work is diverse and I cater to my client’s needs. I don’t just go for basic natural grams I’m more of an out-of-the-box type of makeup artist I like to switch it up and convince my clients to try new things.

How do you define success?
Success to me is being able to do what you couldn’t do back then. What I mean by that is that success is being able to accomplish things and being able to look around and see everyone knowing you for being this type of person or having little kids look up to you and admire you for what you do. Success is also about being happy with an outcome and doing something correctly . It is about feeling accomplished when something is finished.Success to me is setting a goal, putting others first, and doing what I want to do and to achieve the goal I set my mind to.
