Today we’d like to introduce you to Bone Zone .
Hi Bone Zone, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Rollin: Bone Zone kind of started in 2019 but the official lineup has been set for a few months now. I love all different kinds of music and so I wanted to have a band where I could play music that’s straightforward, heavy, catchy, chill, or anything else I’m feeling at the time. Oh and also have some humor attached to it! We’re a serious band but we don’t take ourselves too seriously, so we like to laugh and goof off. We’re just three friends that have a blast making and playing music and I think that anybody that listens to our songs or sees us live can really see that too.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Rollin: I think everything for Bone Zone has been pretty smooth. We mainly care about having fun and playing music so as long as we’re doing that, we just laugh at big bumps in the road together. Aside from that we just roll with the punches and go where we think we should!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Rollin: Honestly we just try to write cool music! We think if we like it, that others will like it too. Throw good music and a fun live show together and people are going to come back to see you again. We’re definitely in the rock genre, but we have some songs that are more punk, some that are more alternative, some that are a little heavier, and some that are more low-key. Throw all those together and some catchy vocals and you have Bone Zone! We’ve had some pretty successful shows in the Atlanta area and the Southeast overall, so we’re just going to step that up and 2022 is going to be a big year for us.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Rollin: That’s pretty tough, probably hanging out with my parents though. They were divorced but both were really active in my life. My dad played in the NFL and was super athletic, so we always went bike riding, playing basketball and football, swimming, etc. My mom took us places, so we got to travel a little bit and that got me into going different places. Both of them were big-time music listeners, so that’s where I get it from. I owe a lot to them.
Zack: As far as my childhood goes, my dad was always traveling a lot and it was usually just me and my mom. She was constantly keeping me busy with baseball and athletics, but when I was around 12, I decided I wanted to dive into music more after falling in love with bands like Led Zeppelin and Van Halen. So I talked her into getting me a guitar from a local shop here in town. An all American made fender strat, which was completely miss priced by about 600 dollars, which ended up being my very first guitar. Playing that every day growing up is honestly what made me want to explore new instruments, which then led me to learn drumming and other instruments.
Blake: My oldest sister might be one of the most musically talented people on the planet. She was especially amazing at drums but she dabbled in pretty much everything she could. I always played sports but it started to bore me and I was having a lot of trouble finding something else. My favorite childhood memory was when she let me play her Kramer electric guitar when I was 10 and showed me a few things and my love for music ignited from then on. She is still one of my biggest inspirations even if she slammed my head on the kitchen counter and made me forget math. Totally joking. I know 2+2=7
