Today we’d like to introduce you to BOREGARD..
Hi BOREGARD., so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been creating and promoting music for what feels like the majority of my life. I started writing poetry in 3rd grade, but It wasn’t until Junior year of high school I actually decided to record a song. I relate my musical journey to one of a big 3 anime protagonists. It feels like it’s been forever and will never end, my favorite parts are the power-ups, and each major change I make seems to signify another arc in the show that is my life. I had my first real performance at the Masquerade in Atlanta. I’d done talent shows and pep-rallies before, but it was the first time I actually received money as an artist, and it was this night that I committed to the dream of making music a permanent part of my life. From there, I began booking more shows, learning and improving with each experience. I developed a reputation for my eclectic stage presence. I continued to surround myself in art for years, and it resulted in plenty of hits and grand musical moments. The first big shift in my artistry came when I released my album Silence of The Lamb (executively produced by Ethan Lamb). Ethan and I had unearthed something I didn’t know I was capable of, and I was able to channel that energy into great songs like Breakfast, Beyoncé Knows, and Africa by Toto (by BOREGARD.). Then I was introduced to TrackTeam, and while I have met and worked with many artists, they played a pivotal part in defining who I was as an artist. The first song we created was “Sandra Bullock” and it had such a specific energy about it, it wasn’t gangster, it wasn’t normal, it was just hard. I carried this energy into many of my releases after working with them. Most of the unreleased songs I have now are produced by TrackTeam. I hope to make it clear where I am currently with my next releases. I’m also currently pursuing Voice Acting and Gaming, I still have a lot to lear in both those fields though. Check out my latest offering EDIBLE which has a music video to accompany it!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are times where it felt smooth, but it was only smooth due to the hard work that went in behind the scenes. I’ve struggled with my mental health of course. Most artists do. There were times where I joked about music being my Therapy, but I honestly came to music in some of my darkest times, and it saved me. I also struggled with moderation, I tend to have an addictive personality, and it manifests in so many ways, sometimes to my detriment. I start a new game, I have to finish it, same with shows.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
BOREGARD. is definitely known for signature ad-libs. If you’re lucky enough to call yourself a BOREGARD. fan you know my favorite ones are “ACTION!” and “DAMN!” I definitely think, its partially what’s inspiring me to pursue Voice Acting work as well. I also feel like I’m definitely known for having some AMAZING music videos, and I’m eternally thankful for my talented friends that have made that happen, I can only imagine what we would create on some James Gunn budget.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see it finding new ways to thrive. Art and sound have always been adaptable despite every obstacle, and I think that’s what makes it so great. Someone will discover how to do everything we currently know how to do with AI, and guess what? We’ll create something newer. Granted, it’s not ideal circumstances at all for an artist in the present, but I see the long term-change as something to admire, i guess.
