Today we’d like to introduce you to Briana Willis.
Briana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in NC and moved down to Atlanta spring of 2021 kind of on a whim, mid-COVID, just call me crazy. I moved to Atlanta after about 2 years after graduating undergrad for a change while pursuing my master’s degree in public health. You know I was like besides my family living in NC, I just really needed that change and it definitely helped that I already have a friend (Krysty) down here but I was for sure nervous. But I am so happy I did because it allowed our friendship to grow so much. So I decided to take that leap and just move. I’ve now been here for two years and it has not been easy by any means but being here has allowed me to grow you know with God, my family, and friends. Living here has also allowed me to expand my opportunities in my career. So right now, I am working full-time in public health while also trying to live out my dreams of pursuing content. I feel like I’ve always had this big dream of being Dr. Willis, BS, MPH, DPT/ content creator and I feel like I’m finally on my way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, it has not been a smooth road but I am thankful for the journey. Some of those challenges were trusting in myself, trusting in the process, you know, realizing that my journey is not everyone else’s. But it’s definitely hard when everywhere you turn is social media and you’re constantly reminded like okay well I’m not where I want to be just yet but I’ve been able to really understand that my journey is not everyone’s. When I first moved down here, like I said it was on a whim, I didn’t even have a place secured, I just secured a job and moved and stayed with my friend for a couple of weeks. And when I say that alone was new for me. The job I had wasn’t even the job I thought it was so that was an extremely depressing time for me. But looking back, I am very thankful for that whole journey. I am still learning and I know it’s not going to be easy but I’m going to get there.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
You know there’s Dr. Bri but then there’s Bri the G, the creator in me. I have my full-time career right now in public health and working toward my DPT but that creativity in my has always been there and I want to share that. So I do have a Youtube channel: Briana Anye’, as well my Instagrams: Briana_Anye and fitfanaticBri, and of course tik tok. My youtube and my tik tok really just highlight my daily life, so you going to catch a lot of vlogs, might catch some Q&A’s, definitely fitness, and just so much more, might even some paintings from me. I feel like for a long time, I was trying to figure out my niche and I think I’m finally getting there. I think what sets me apart is that I am still trying to pursue my other dreams of being a Doctor of Physical therapy and I just want to share that. I think I am most proud of taking that step. Like I can be very anxious sometimes taking that leap but I am proud that I am doing what I love.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
So a lot of people know that I sing but I don’t think many people know that I paint and draw. I have not done a painting in maybe 4 or 5 years. It was more of a hidden passion but I think I want to highlight that more in my content.
