Check Out Carl Adams’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carl Adams

Hi Carl, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Been in it nearly 15 years now. Still fresh. Still fun. Still work to do.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nah. Can’t be. If you do this for real the road’s hard. But it’s something you’re somewhat aware of very quickly, and from there you adjust expectations accordingly.

As far as struggles…nothing out of the ordinary. As you’d expect, there’s a mixture of things that make it harder. Mainly life getting in the way as it often does, but that’s for everyone. There’s also the general apathy of consumers who are spoiled for choice. It’s harder than ever to get in front of them, and even harder to stay in front of them.

Then, of course, the ever-changing standards and rules to contend with; just been waiting for the dust to settle, go from there.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Multi-genre composer. Just depends on what I feel like doing. Might be classical, might be electronic, might be metal, might be some weird blend of genres with my musical identity at the center. I largely do what the hell I want without paying attention to the result. The journey there is usually much more fun and rewarding.

As far as what separates…don’t know. Probably the fact that I’m still around. Didn’t really think it’d go this long, and it probably won’t stop any time soon. Guess that’s something to be proud of. It’s not all that glamorous but I don’t need it to be.

What were you like growing up?
Was somewhat sociable, but it was out of what I thought to be necessity. Had a huge temper problem, too. When alone, I’d just read books and play the violin as much as possible. Stayed out of any real trouble and tried to mind my business. Once I decided to do this music thing for real, I went ahead and threw myself in. Studied as many musicians as possible, learned as many rules as possible. Looking back now, I wouldn’t say it was anything too noteworthy, and that’s what’s interesting. Quite a few musicians I’ve come across had similar upbringings. Those similarities drew us to each other.
