Check Out Cheeky Banter’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheeky Banter.

Hi Cheeky, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was introduced to music-making at an early age. My moms and pops had me at an early age in college, so I’ve always been around people older than me. They were a diverse set of people and that included creators. Although I would be introduced to artist and music creation at an early age, I didn’t start to produce until 2015 and began rapping on my own beats till 2019. The irony of it all is, I started making music due to my competitive nature. While in Little Rock, Arkansas a producer by the name “JPhrased Beats” pulled out a laptop with FL Studio on it. I was interested and said, ” I bet I can make a better beat than you,” and of course, he said I couldn’t but that’s how it started, lol.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Well, the issue with being a new producer is finding people to rap on your beats and you actually like the message, style, lyrics, etc. That’s only one aspect of the issue, the other issue is aligning with the wrong people to work with as far as lifestyle, morals, and habits. If you’re from Atlanta then you know how hot it can get in certain areas of the city. Unfortunately, I worked with some hot boys and found myself in compromising situations. So in order to save me from the dangers of “Black Air Force” activities, I Started rapping on my own beats and eventually found a group of like-minded people. Shout out to “Late Nights Early Mornings” (LNEM), it’s a great collective of creators and people of good character.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Well, I am a Scrum Master by day and an artist/producer/engineer by heart (I’m a little corny, lol). Well, my specialty is just being the best artist-producer you will hear. Most people want beats but then hear the bars and also want that as well.

I’m most proud of my body of work and the progress I’ve made as an artist and person. If you listen to my catalog of music you’ll realize the variety of sounds and artistry in each project and song.

What sets me apart is my sound and the different sound I can create and adapt to. I have an eclectic taste in music and it translates to my own music as well, and that’s hard to create and rare to find.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Well, my father is one for sure, he’s always enjoyed music and it wasn’t limited to genre.

“Late Nights Early Mornings” and affiliates are a large part of my most recent success and connections. The roster consists of Victor Rashad, Chris Hovers, J-Five, A.E. Charles, Pe$o Q, Saunrchle, Ethic, Khalil Belcher, and Sahmir Short. These are common features that offer their talent and creativity to a large part of my projects and help my creative visions come to fruition.

“Fancy Crew” and “Elephant Tusk” are some other dope groups that have a roster of talent and have welcomed me to collaborate with them whenever and I am very thankful for them as well.
