Today we’d like to introduce you to Chioma A.
Hi Chioma, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
These days anyone can become anything if they have the right strategy, but if you have to be in it for an extended period of time, you will need to carve a niche for yourself for it to work. Getting here with content creating, I had to be intentional, patient and determined. The feedback meant a lot to me, for me it was a form of growth. Without having a defined niche, it wouldn’t really matter to my audience. I had to constantly ask myself questions like; what do I love? What am I passionate about? What do I enjoy? What am I good at? What weird quirks do I have? I knew I loved food and this reflected a lot in my personality so I believed I had a great passion for trying out new restaurants and different kinds of cuisines. Regardless of the niche I chose, I made sure that every time I tried a new restaurant, my audience could relate. From the aesthetics to the food, the cocktails, the service. I made little clips of these restaurants and how great or poor the service was and if they loved it, they would give it a shot. It’s not always as easy as everyone makes it look, especially if you are also a 9-5er. Content creating can be hard work – so I tell people, it has to be something that you truly enjoy and are consistent with. This is important to your eventual success because it will inspire you to keep going when things are hard.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, it hasn’t been smooth all the way, finding your ideal audience is one the most struggling things content creators or influencers go through. One of the major struggles I went through was (WIIFM) What’s in it for me? I did it because I enjoyed it but then every weekend I have to spend money on luxury restaurants because I need to keep creating content for my audience, at some point it started to get frustrating. Because money spent also needs to be made. Lol. But then came my first cheque and I’m like this isn’t so bad haha. After considering all the factors above, I was able to hone in on my target audience. I started to create even more valuable content once I knew what type of content my audience loved.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Professionally I am a certified Dental Assistant and a Business Analyst. As cliche as this may sound, I am proud of myself. In all my life I wouldn’t go this route professionally, but I took the road, I made huge sacrifices, I was determined. There where days where I felt like I took a wrong turn because of the struggles and money spent, but looking back now I am happy and proud that I did because no one can take these away from me.
This journey to a better life and quality living has been a nightmare. Making hard choices for myself will always be something I am grateful for.
I consider my impressive accomplishments as some of the things that set me apart, I don’t say it often enough but I have worked hard for everything that I have and that I have lost. I am very committed to my goals and my work.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes, the covid-19 pandemic brought us many challenges and disruptions to our daily lives but also taught us some important lessons. One is the importance of good hygiene and preparedness. These lessons have helped me better in managing future crisis.
