Today we’d like to introduce you to Christy Jordan.
Hi Christy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2017, I left everything behind to work for a Cruise Ship. My position was Galley Steward aka Dishwasher. Back then I was interested in the savory side of cooking so often, I would ask the Head Chef if I could help or shadow him. I was always turned down. Each time, the Pastry Chef was there offering to teach me the baking side. After the 3rd time of her offering, I gave in and said yes. Best decision of my life. With that, I came back home to Arkansas where I started hosting bake sales, taking orders, and making custom birthday and wedding cakes. To further grow my knowledge and skills, I enrolled into Baking School. The required Internship is what landed me here in Georgia, and the rest is history.
You know you will always have those that try to bring you down, but I believe you are your own worst enemy. Self-doubt, procrastination, fear and comparison all are thefts of joy. But keeping God first, being kind, patient and self-motivating will be your biggest assets.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a recent Pastry Graduate via Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts. I am versed in scratch-making breads (Baguette, Epi, Brioche, Pretzel), french style pastries and scratch-made cakes. Back home, I hosted many bake sales. I’m known for my Cheesecake Cakes-Strawberry Crunch being most popular.
My broad sense in baking & pastry, loads of experience, as well as being an avid student sets me apart from others.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I write a little bit of poetry in my spare time, and I loving watching battle rap.
