Check Out Cisalo Harris’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cisalo Harris.

Hi Cisalo, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It really all started when I was 12. At that age, I knew whatever I was going to do with my life as an adult needed to involve the arts, namely music & film. I had already been exposed to music and playing instruments since the age of four. By the time I reached 12 years of age, I knew this would forever be a part of me.

I tried doing the arts in my native state Louisiana, also in the DMV region, as well as a few other places. However, the atmosphere really just wasn’t the place for those types of endeavors. this is how I ended up in Atlanta

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth? No, lmao. Unexpected twists, turns, deaths, life, betrayal ya know the usual.

I think for me the biggest hurdle was dealing with relatives who don’t really support, watch you and then wait to finally hit you up with something that is only beneficial to them. A lot of these people have watched my struggle from the front line and still act oblivious as if I’ve had it made my entire life

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I suppose I should start from the beginning.

I’m an instrumentalist, preferably percussion. I produce, engineer audio as well build studios. I also write my own music so in my studio there is not limitations, creatively, technically or sonically

On the film side, I run my own production company (www.Cisaloroductions.com). In the company, I’m one of our cinematographers. We shoot a lot of corporate ads, commercials, music videos and films.

This is what I’m known for, lol. Jack of all trades, master at some, lmao.

I’m most proud of my body of work of music. I’ve been making music all my life but never seriously released it until 2020. Since then, I’ve been very consistent with my releases of original material.

What sets me apart from the rest is that there legit isn’t ONE aspect of my art that I have not touched. I will produce a song, write my lyrics, record & mix myself & as of lately I just started to master my own music. From there I’ll do my own artwork, register the recording with proper metadata (ISRC, copyrights, publishing, Red book master, etc).
After that, I’ll start the visual concept in my head for filming the video. I speak film from a technical standpoint, most of my visuals are shot in B raw codec, 5k ranging from 24 to 60fps. Once the cideo is shot, I’ll edit and color it & blah blah blah lmao. BUT THIS is what sets me apart! I’m not a lazy artist by anyone’s imagination

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I don’t really like where I see it going in the future. Artists in my opinion want fame more so much that they are willing to become “clones” and “industry plants” just to say that they are “on”. This has seem to ignite a race to the bottom. We are in a place where fake streams, plays, views, etc. are a thing, A prerequisite at this point. We as artists gave way too much power to the major labels (who, like governments of nations, do not create anything) and now they tell us what’s hot and what’s not as if they know. We thought going digital would free us from the physical gatekeepers of old however now we have digital gatekeepers as well
