Check Out Clifford Jones’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clifford Jones.

Clifford Jones

Hi Clifford, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Clifford Jones, and I’m the owner and founder of Slab Jones Trucking LLC. I decided to get into the trucking industry in March 2021. At the time, I was living in Texas, and I moved back to Georgia to be closer to my family. Once I returned home, I enrolled in an 8-week trucking school to obtain my CDL license. I applied to a few trucking jobs, and I ended up working for this excellent company for a year and a half to gain experience and knowledge about the industry. I got close with the owner, who gave me free jewels because I was among his best employees. Long story short, I was put in a position where I had to figure out my next game plan, and I knew I wanted to be an owner-operated. When I felt the time was right, I presented my idea to my business partner, who’s also an investor name Cassieandre. She’s made investments for me all my life, and I knew she would be on board because she’s a visionary. I gave her the business name, and she had everything up and running within eight weeks.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My path has been smooth because I have a business partner who’s an investor, and she’s skilled in operating and creating businesses. If I didn’t have her, our company would probably be all over the place, but her knowledge made my path a breeze. Many people want to be business owners, but they lack knowledge or give up once something hard is presented to them. They need to get help to understand the problem better. I suggest everyone hire a mentor, get an equal business partner like I did, or become a silent partner. You’re still making money, and most likely, you’re making more than you would if you were trying to do it on your own. You’re making fewer mistakes and achieving your goals faster because you hired or added help. Always choose to be around or do business with someone who is an expert in their field.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a person that always had an entrepreneurial mindset, so every day, I figure out different things my company can haul. I build relationships quickly because I love to network. I treat everything like it’s a product I’m selling. The goal is to sell you this product in exchange for money. What sets me apart is that I can come in as the underdog, but I will walk out as a champion, meaning I will leave out better than I came in.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Many people don’t know this, but my first love is music. I was in a rap group called Small Tyme Ballaz, and my rap name was Big Hulk. I even dabbled in being a music manager for the late rap artist Doe B., but as you get older, you want to get away from the crowd and start to live a more private life. You want something more reliable, and trucking became that for me.
