Hi Cordae, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As a kid growing up, I was always performing “make-believe” shows for my family. I have always wanted to become an actor, but as I got older, my focus began to shift to other things like working, dating, and partying. About two years ago, my elementary through high school friend reached made a Facebook post about auditioning for her web series “Love Lies.” The post sparked my interest, and all of my childhood dreams start rushing back. Long story short, I went and did the audition and got a call back the same day for the role of Denim Love. Not long after auditioning and booking my role in Love Lies, I met Shy’viell Rudolph. Shy has been marking films for a few years now, and she and I had been talking about a role in a documentary that she was preparing to shoot. That project got shelved before production could start, but she was able to introduce me to another filmmaker by the name of Daniel J. From that point on, the rest is history. I’ve had the opportunity to work with and network with some amazing filmmakers and actors in Birmingham and in Atlanta.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
So far, I haven’t had many struggles other than one or two bad auditions. I learned from those bad auditions and fine-tuned a few things. I’m still very new to acting in the film, so I’m really just trying to learn as much as I possibly can about the industry.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Acting is life. Since I’ve been acting, I have had many opportunities to get into modeling, commercials, films, and music videos. My most proud moment so far was seeing one of my latest films, “Slossville” on Amazon. This is such a huge accomplishment for me, seeing as how I’m still new to acting. I have to give a huge shoutout to my amazing cast mates and everyone who was involved in the film. Slossville was very special to me because I actually got a chance to work with my older brother Micah Blair who is also the creator of Blerd Over. My personality and flexibility set me apart from a lot of local actors. I have a hunger for film, so I’m constantly looking for my next best project.
How do you define success?
My definition of success is the feeling of genuine happiness. If whatever you are doing makes you happy, then you have had success.
