COUGA, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello, I’m COUGA, aka Madison Shannon Kelly; I know you’re like, why the 2 different names? I’m a new recording artist/ record label owner who turned her entrepreneur lifestyle into a musical journey by creating songs to describe Life Lifin and my love life crumbling. I’m the mother of 2 children, a son, 20, and my daughter is 29, so I’m now an empty nester who cares for my 74-year-old mom, who is a stroke survivor. What makes my story so unique is I’m creating a lane in music that shows there is no age limit on talent. My stiletto bosses’ brand is my media company that has a radio platform w/ The Hooligan Express station out of Baltimore, Maryland, and also the home of my PR firm, where my 1st client is Diamond from Crime Mob and Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.
Owning my own record label has been a challenging journey, but COUGA Ent is here to stay, and we bleed Female Empowerment and creating a Sisterhood for all women who are Unbreakable and Undeniable ‼️
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of my main struggles has been building a solid team that’s on the same path.
Also, my love life has been a true roller coaster, from getting divorced and living an abusive husband to dating a RnB legend who Ghosted me after 11 months of dating. Which was the result of my hit song “Ghosted,” in which had me & my group perform at the 2023 Superbowl in Arizona.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve been called the remix queen because of my music and songwriting skills. I can flip any song to fit what my brain envisions. It’s my form of expressing my thoughts and turning my emotions into a story thru my music. I love music, and it’s been a form of healing thru a very depressing time in my life.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’m a true risk taker and proud of it. One time, I took a song of an ex and remade it, dissing him for Ghosting me on one of his hit songs, and it went viral and got me my first record deal
