Check Out Cristal Carrington’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristal Carrington.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a singer and songwriter from Long Island, NY in the pop/techno and hip-hop realm. I started my music career as an intern for Universal Records doing promotions for hip hop artists such as Lil Wayne, Maino, Chamillionaire, David Banner and Remy Ma. I also was a producer on WPGC 95.5 FM, a popular hip hop and r&b radio station in the Washington DC market.

I got interested in music at an early age, joining glee club and band at my school. After having tragic losses in my life, I made an album titled Revenge in 2020, which has been critically acclaimed by leading music outlets such as Vents Magazine and Hollywood Digest listing me as an artist to watch.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In 2020, I suffered two great losses in my life which lead to me getting in the booth in a more serious manner. I always knew that I wanted to create a techno album, but never thought about competing in the hip-hop arena. At some level, I was inspired by the art of rap and just went for it.

I took the struggles along the way and used them to my advantage.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a genre-less music artist. I don’t put a label on the music that I create, but I do often venture into Electronic and pop music which is not a-typical. I’m most proud of myself for bending the rules a bit when I create and still being open to creating in new genres that I have never worked on to date. People expect me to do hip-hop and R&B and that’s understandable, but I do want to reach new audiences in new places. There’s a song for everyone in my discography.

What matters most to you?
Creating good music that people can relate or dance to is what matters most to me. Life is a busy place but you have to take that time out to “shake it” with some music from Cristal Carrington.
