Check Out Cristina Mendoza’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristina Mendoza.

Cristina Mendoza

Hi Cristina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been a foodie and loved to get outside and get into something new. I would always post about my adventures on my personal Instagram, and nearly only two and half years ago, starting seeing people do it as a whole separate thing to feature local spots and things to do in the Atlanta and Metro Atlanta area. Honestly, I did a poll on my personal Instagram stories asking friends and family if I should have a separate page dedicated to food and fun things to do, and the answer was overwhelming “Yes!”.

I started my page one insomniac night, and after two different handle interpretations, I prayed about it and felt PhatGirlHungry was me and my brand – Hungry for Food and Adventure!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I won’t say it’s been smooth or bumpy; it’s been an adventure. I’ve met so many people from all over Atlanta. Those that have been in this world for years and those just starting. Growing my network and learning from others, it’s a privilege. To honor local businesses and uplift those out of trying times from pandemic is why I have this platform and my why. There is such a melting pot of tastes, vibes and opportunity in Atlanta to do good!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in visiting and showcasing fun restaurants and activities to get into in the Atlanta and Metro Atlanta area. My Instagram, PhatGirlHungry is for anyone from the single person, couples, or families. From showcasing the best food/new restaurant to a fun hike /new trail in the Georgia mountains, I always use my outings as an opportunity.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I would consider myself a Georgia/ Metro Atlanta native. I have lived her for over 32 years, going to school in the Lilburn District for Elementary and Middle and closing out my middle school and high school years at Dacula; graduating from Dacula High School; class of 2004. My favorite part of Georgia is my little gem of a spot on Tybee Island Beach and exploring cemeteries in Savannah, GA to hiking around the lake at Sandy Creek in Athens, GA.
