Check Out Darleen Bolton’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darleen Bolton.

Hi Darleen, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been dancing for 28 years and teaching dance for 18 years. In 2019, I started my dance studio, Pirouette With Purpose Dance Studio (PWP), which offers recreational, competitive, and mobile programs to ages three to adult. As of this year, I have added a new branch to my business in the form of a pre-professional dance company, Darleen’s Dance Lab (DDL), which is for young dancers between the ages of 5-18 that want to dance professionally as an adult and/or take their dance training to the next level. My dancers have successfully competed on the regional and national level, trained with world-renowned instructors, and received talent-based scholarships for their performance skills, just to name a few of their accomplishments.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all! Aside from adjusting to changes that COVID brought along during and after, a huge challenge was pivoting my business into what it is now. It’s actually a new change but one that I still think is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Even though it’s been challenging, I wouldn’t change a thing about it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a dance instructor and choreographer. I specialize in instruction for intermediate and advanced dancers that are passionate and serious about their dance goals, potential, and future. This includes private and group instruction and choreography. I’m most known for my dancer’s technique, precision, and strenuous dance training. It’s honestly what I’m most proud of as well. I know that my dancers at Darleen’s Dance Lab are strong because of how hard myself and my staff push them on a daily basis. It’s what sets us apart from other dance programs in our area. At DDL, our approach to dance training is more like what you’d see in dance studios on the west and northeast coast.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Although our next team auditions are not until Spring 2023, we do have availability on our Pre-Team division! This team is for dancers that aspire to be on our team and want to train and maintain their skills while they wait for auditions. It also gives them a chance to see what it’s like to be a DDL dancer prior to being an actual member. They attend classes, competitions, workshops, and events with the team which helps them learn more about the experience.
