Check Out David “Esco” Escobar’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to David “Esco” Escobar.

Hi “Esco”, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Like many it all started as a teenage dream. Writing songs in high school with friends and playing drums for church. At the same time, I learned live sound and eventually caught wind of it being a real career path.

At age 22, I decided to enroll at SAE Institute Atlanta where I received an associate’s degree in Audio Technology. I was president and salutatorian of my class. From then on, I interned in one of the biggest studios of Atlanta, Silent Sound Studios. It was a solid foundation for what was to come. Following Silent Sound I moved on to a place more fitting, Bravo Ocean Studios.

My career truly began at Bravo Ocean Studios as an intern and assistant but quickly grew in the ranks. I became a staff engineer within a year and then became the studio facility manager in 2017. In the same year I completed Raury’s  unofficial album “The Woods.” 2018 kicked off with the release of Queen Naija’s Medicine by 2019 it was a platinum selling record making me a Platinum Awarded Engineer. Since then I’ve been working my way up in the world of ADR in film working with well-known actors like Zoe Saldaña, Kevin Bacon, Rebel Wilson, and more.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been exhilarating. Every turn comes with its challenges such as stoplights, crosswalks, and potholes. I consider myself to be very lucky with work available and a phenomenal place to work out of. Ironically the only struggle has been my friendliness. It’s tough to know who truly has your best interest at heart. I can say I am blessed to have had more on my side than opposing. A special shoutout to Sidd Kel & PR, who have been in my corner since school days at SAE and still add tremendous value to my life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in building artist identity. Artists find their voice and finally get to create work they are proud of. As an engineer sound is the specialty but as a creative, I build records.

Arrangement and structure set me apart from most. As a drummer song structure and arrangement are extremely important and what part comes next is a gift. Naturally, this includes songwriting and melody as those are a part of a song’s story.

I am most proud of El QNTO Elemento. QNTO is a one of a kind reggaeton superstar who is ready to take the world by storm. I’m privileged to say I’m part of his writing and engineer team. This is certainly something I’ll be known for as history unfolds.

I’m also known for throwing the sickest studio parties with unique performances for my birthday each December.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I search for alignment in our journeys and if we can help each other, that’ll make it easy for us to collaborate. Music, like love, isn’t something to be forced. If your goal is also to make Atlanta the next biggest Latin music industry ecosystem, Instagram DM’s and emails work great.
