Check Out David Tubbs’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Tubbs.

Hi David, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Howdy so where can I start… I had the first taste of acting at my old church called the Soul Factory where I was asked to play as a slave now let me tell you I was always running away from acting. When I had the opportunity to do a play I will always back out I was just scared until one day I was asked to say a line in a country vice. Now at this time, I’m like, yes I can do that it’s right up the alley I’m a Bougie Cowboy, LOL, so I did it and once I have seen myself on the screen, I wanted to keep doing it but didn’t know where to go from schooling but later that year I had another opportunity where I landed a background role on the Movie Lincoln as I was a Union Soldier on horseback. Man, once I have seen myself again on the big screen well this time it was AMC Movie Theater. It push me to go harder.

Fast forward just last month, I was diagnosed with a rare brain disease called Chiari Malformation and how it has stopped me from working a regular job until I have my brain surgery but I’m not letting that stop me doing what I love, which is Acting! Now even though my left ear down to my arm is numb due to the brain fluid sitting on my spine. I kept pushing instead of giving up, now that I was about to do it, I had to tell myself that if I could ride a bull and still be alive! I can overcome this. So I still did a movie, still went to a play also network at the play and moved back to Ohio to be with family. Now when I moved back to Ohio, I’m like why God, it’s so boring here why would put me in an area where there’s no fun. After a few days, I sat here looking at the trees hearing God saying this son I need you slow down and hear me you were working so much you would out on some doors that I have getting ready to open up for you. I was like, WOW!!! Three days after, I get an email from you surprising me so I’m ok God here’s the door that I would have missed out on! You see, I worked from 6:00AM to 11:00pm, sometimes 1:00AM FedEx to work at BWI Airport six days a week. Missing out on my dream which is acting and modeling gigs from time to time.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has it been a smooth road? NO, it hasn’t from being homeless to now being diagnosed with a rare brain disease called Chiari Malformation Type 1.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
