Today we’d like to introduce you to Debōrah Faith Perry.
Hi Debōrah Faith, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in a very traditional family who were religious. When I was 12 years old, my ten years old sister died in my arms. This was of course in a day where mental health wasn’t something anyone spoke about. So, I never had any type of therapy. As my mom would tell me later in life, she prayed for me.
My family went back to business as usual but I was never quite the same. I went on to lose two other close family members that same year.
I learned in that moment how to look okay and even how to appear like everything was great.
I was okay when I lose my first son at birth, found my aunt deceased in her apartment.
Honestly, I never was okay but I was climbing the corporate ladder.
In 2014, my dad was diagnosed with 4th stage cancer. I was fortunate to spend 18th months with my dad. I got to know him as a person not just as a parent. In losing him, I found me.
I created TheXchange Place for all the people like me.
“The Xchange Place ” is a podcast that connects and unites people from all walks of life to help identify and heal unaddressed trauma by sharing her own journey and sharing other’s experiences through vulnerability and transparency.
“The Xchange Place” is a safe space where authentic heartfelt conversation with laughter and sometimes tears leaves you with newfound knowledge to help you transform you and become the you, you haven’t met yet.
We need mirrors that reflect where we are and windows to where we are going.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to your Purpose is never a straight line. It’s filled with unexpected delays, detours and sometimes rerouting.
One of my biggest struggles has been patience know that God’s timing is perfect. Sometimes entrepreneurs struggle in the middle because we have a timeline attached to our business.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the creator and host of the best podcast in the world. I am so proud of the unique space that I have created that allows people to be vulnerable and most timeshare unaddressed trauma that they have never told anyone.
I am so proud that people trust the space enough to share such an intimate space in their lives.
All the guests that Grace this platform come in as strangers sometimes but leave as Family. They leave better than they came.
