Today we’d like to introduce you to Deja Horton-Adams.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am the Creator of D’s Soul food delivery. I am 28 going on 29 March 2nd and I have an amazing six years old named Andre or Tre as we call him since he is a third. I’m newly engaged to my best friend of 11 years Andre Barber.
D’s Soul has been cooking since I was about 15 years old. I’ve always loved to cook but never really had the confidence to start my business until October 2021. I lost my job and knew I had a family support so while I looked for a job, I started selling plates.
For me, cooking is therapeutic and gives me happiness that I can’t explain when I see people smile once they eat my food. I grew up eating real southern home-cooked comfort foods so I wanted to take what I’ve been taught from my grandma and mother and put my own spin on it. My mission is to feed the Soul while not breaking your wallet☺️. My food is based on healthy options with good flavor especially my shakes and smoothies that I’m working on.
The shakes and smoothies will be packed with delicious flavors and nutritional options to help my customers that want to maybe lose a little weight get a boost of energy and fiber into their body. Thanks to Herbalife Nutrition, I’m able to make that happen and give my customers a dessert or drink to go with their meal.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has never been smooth. I started in October of 2021 and there’s a lot of days where I don’t have orders but I keep pushing And praying because I know that God has something bigger in store for me and D’s Soul.

My brush is my spatula and my canvas is my stove. I enjoy creating dishes that put smiles on people’s faces and joy to their hearts. That’s what D’s Soul is all about, feeling the love of great people in the room, sharing memories and enjoying a plate of delicious comfort food.
