Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise McInnis.

Hi Denise, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My hypergamous adventure began in June 2019 after years of hard work in the legal profession. Growing up in Harlem in New York CIty during the vibrant 60s, taught me the importance of independence. After too long without a date, I decided it was time for a change. I created The Hypergamous Journey YouTube channel in 2021 to document my dating experiences with other mature women who, like me, were seeking romance, marriage, or a travel buddy. I share effective dating strategies; celebrate our femininity, and enhance our communication with men. I have over 1700 YouTube subscribers and over 750 videos.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In hindsight, it has been a smooth ride. The biggest challenge was overcoming my fear of being seen and heard on YouTube. I had imposter syndrome; I did not know how to apply makeup; no lighting for my videos. It was a hot mess. But as months passed, I purchased video recording equipment and accessories to improve the quality of my videos.
I also had trolls who were negatively commenting on my age, looks, and video topics. But I didn’t let these comments stop me from creating content. Now, my skin is thick and I am not hurt by negative comments.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a content creator on YouTube (The Hypergamous Journey – https://www.youtube.com/@thehypergamousjourney). I specialize in real-time dating advice for mature women 50 and older. I share my experience dating men who are financially/socially at a higher level, including their expectations, my interactions with them, and their dating strategies.

I am most proud of my transparency. Everything I discuss in my videos, I have experienced. Nothing is fluff. I walk the talk.

I have set myself apart from others because of my age (64); never married, and child-free. My relationship goal is marriage. Most women my age do not want marriage because they have experienced it and it did not turn out well for them. I also tell my audience not to have premarital sex. I am a firm believer in no sex before commitment.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like the many entertainment options available in Atlanta; and meeting people who have moved to Atlanta from all over the world. Atlanta is a place of opportunity to explore as an entrepreneur or as a corporate-preneur. Atlanta is what you make it.

Atlanta has a lot of traffic. I moved here during the Olympics in 1995. Traffic is horrendous now. This is what I do not like about Atlanta. Otherwise, Atlanta is a beautiful place to live.
