Check Out Dominique Bowden’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Bowden.

Dominique Bowden

Hi Dominique, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My floral journey is deeply personal and rooted in family. My business is named after my great-grandmother Mary, who had a deep love for flowers and plants. She passed that passion down to my mom, and it naturally became a part of me as well.

I started designing floral arrangements as a creative outlet, but it quickly turned into something more when I saw how much people connected with my work. I began making bouquets for friends and small events, and from there, my business grew through word of mouth. Recently, I had a successful pop-up shop where I sold out of my arrangements, which was an amazing experience.

Now, I’m focused on continuing to grow, perfecting my craft, and making each bouquet special. For me, flowers aren’t just about aesthetics, they tell stories, evoke emotions, and create lasting memories.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all! Balancing my floral business while working a full-time job and being a full-time college student has definitely been challenging. There have been long nights and early mornings, especially when fulfilling orders around my busy schedule. Time management has been crucial, and I’ve had to learn how to prioritize and stay organized.

Another challenge has been scaling my business while juggling everything else. Since I do everything myself from sourcing flowers to designing arrangements and handling customers, it can be overwhelming. But despite the struggles, my passion keeps me going. Seeing the joy my flowers bring to people makes all the hard work worth it, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
In addition to custom bouquets, I also specialize in creating floral arrangements for events such as birthdays, anniversaries, and special celebrations. I enjoy staging spaces to create an unforgettable atmosphere whether it’s for an intimate birthday party or a larger celebration. I focus on making the space feel cohesive and unique, blending florals with other décor elements to bring the client’s vision to life.

What sets me apart is the personal touch I bring to every arrangement and event setup. My business is named after my great-grandmother Mary, who passed down a love for flowers and plants to my family. This connection to my heritage is something I pour into my work, ensuring each arrangement or event setup reflects that same care and passion.

I’m most proud of my ability to bring these events to life, helping create memorable moments for clients while growing my business in the process. I always make sure to listen to what my clients envision and work closely with them to make that vision a reality.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising that most people might not know about me is that, while I’m deeply passionate about flowers, I’ve always had a creative side. I’ve been artsy since kindergarten, and that creativity extends to everything I do, including my love for fashion. I worked at Neiman Marcus for a while, where I developed an appreciation for style and design, which I now incorporate into my floral arrangements.

Additionally, I work in healthcare, which is a totally different field, but it helps me bring a unique perspective to my business. The discipline and attention to detail I’ve learned in healthcare are qualities I apply to every arrangement I create. Balancing my healthcare work, my floral business, and my creativity is challenging, but it keeps me inspired and allows me to bring diverse elements into my floral designs.
