Check out Dr. Felicia Harvey’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Felicia Harvey.

Who is Dr. Harvey?  She is a seasoned human resource professional by day, a real estate investor, author, life coach, business consultant, motivational speaker and the proud owner of Nuttin’ But Jerk by night.

Dr. Harvey, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in Chicago.  I then transitioned to the Atlanta metropolitan area and gave birth to the eatery Nuttin But Jerk.  The restaurant is near and dear to me because it serves as an extension to my upbringing and pays homage to her late great mother Joann Clark.  My mother would feed the needy and provide shelter to the homeless without judgement. If you were a victim of domestic violence, a person newly released from prison, struggled with drug/alcohol abuse and or a member of the LGBTQ community and was rejected by your family you could always find a safe, warm place to sleep coupled with good hearty food blended with a music twist at “Jody’s Place”.  My mom never turned anyone away, so it was only fitting that I launch the restaurant to honor her with the goal of donating a portion of the proceeds to shelters that serve the underserved.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As you can imagine, there are always obstacles and challenges associated with living in the inner city of Chicago, coupled with drug and alcohol abuse. Unfortunately/fortunately, I was raised by a single mother who moved quite often due to domestic violence and escaping the crime of the inner city so as a result of her constant movement, I changed schools 13 times prior to officially graduating from high school.  I have since earned my doctoral degree in Healthcare and Education and plan to use said degree to change lives on person one encounter at a time (teach one reach one).

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a solutions architect who have a love for helping the people become better versions of themselves.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
So now I spend my days focusing on spreading goodwill, promoting awareness, mental health wellness (even if they are members of a church or any other religious institution), and practicing and promoting financial wellness which lends itself to overall good health.

I plan to launch a podcast titled Straight Talk NO ChaisHER (HIM) to help people tackle this thing called life.  ChaisHER (HIM) was intentionally used incorrectly because I don’t want any problems with Steve Harvey’s Straight Talk No Chaser’s camp. 🙂

In addition, I will be starting a not-for-profit organization names Jody’s Place: Footprints in the Sand (FITS) whose primary goal is to be a safety-net organization that helps with whatever needs are not being met. This includes but is not limited to providing healthy meals, clothing, showers, shelter, transportation job readiness, skill development to name a few.  FITS will carry out this mission to its constitutes with dignity, while affirming God’s love for all his people regardless of their current or past circumstances. FITS will help to reaffirm their worth and aim to help them become the best version of themselves despite of.

Lastly, I have an upcoming speaking engagement with Fearless Women Meet Brunch and ask that you support this endeavor by purchasing tickets through Eventbrite.
