Today we’d like to introduce you to Elisha Hunter.
Hi Elisha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Over the years, as I explored my personal self-love journey I loved who I was and who I was becoming. I was comfortable and confident with my curves and always had a passion for modeling and one day I asked myself “what are you waiting for?” It was then I decided back in 2017 to pursue plus-size modeling. I know lots of times we are underrepresented and I wanted to help be an example of representation for the Fluffy Gals. It’s only right we strut in confidence with what the Good Lord Blessed us with! My journey became two fold; I was pursuing my dreams as a model and also inspiring others along the way to embrace and love on themselves. Lots of times, I realized people have a tendency to overlook self-love but I feel it is so necessary. You must first love yourself before you can expect someone else to love you. As you evolve into the Best version of you, it is important to never lose yourself. And fast forward to now, I continue to be a Curvy Influencer and Model who inspires and uplifts others. I also have planned and hosted Women Empowerment Events because I truly believe we are stronger together and we can learn so much from each other so creating a platform for growth is always vital to our communities. Along my journey being prepared for photoshoots has always been a priority which led to my navigation to natural skin care products to ensure my skin was always at its Best. This paved the way for me starting my own natural skincare line known as Suga Skin Glo; made with ingredients Sweet for your Skin known to cause an illuminating Glo. I’m grateful for every time I pushed myself to go for it and hope I can continue to encourage others to believe in their dreams as well…the time is now, what are you waiting for?
I’m also so grateful for my supporters along the way who have been there through my journey. It is truly priceless to have a team behind you rooting for you. A special thank you to my family and supporters and also my mentors who have all always been fully supportive to my dreams and are always sharing Gems along the way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There has definitely been plenty of challenges along the way. As a model, your look is unique and it is not for everyone. But that’s okay you learn every path isn’t for you and focus on the path’s that are. Every “No” gets you closer to that “Yes.” Through the challenges, you build endurance, determination and if anything this makes you more prepared for the next opportunity that awaits you. What has helped me through the challenges has been to remain humble and always be willing to learn from past mistakes or even critiques from others in the industry. If you always keep an open mind viewing yourself as a student you will continue learning and evolving. Also, as an entrepreneur, there are also plenty of bumpy roads and you will learn the true meaning of self-motivation and discipline. Some days you will feel you can conquer the world and other days, you may feel like where do you begin but always apply yourself and don’t let any obstacle stop you from pursuing your goals. I’m so grateful I never gave up.

I believe in inspiring and uplifting others and I bring that to every area. As a model and curvy influencer, I embrace my curves with confidence; I want to inspire others to Love on themselves and be proud of their bodies even if it is more to Love. During my Women Empowerment Events, I speak on building yourself up and pulling others up along the way. We have to share those gems for the next person on their journey. Also, my skincare line Suga Skin Glo is based on both Self-care and Soul-care both are equally important and as I help to educate my Glo Fam on why natural ingredients are safer and healthier for your body we also encourage taking care of your Soul as well to be the complete Best version of yourself; Mind, Body and Soul. What sets me apart would have to be that I always remain humble and authentic in everything I do. You will always get the real me ….the confident and personable Elisha who enjoys helping others, sassy, classy and lives Life to the Fullest!!! I’m proud of my uniqueness and personality and I know this sets me apart so I let it speak for itself. Also, everything I do has to have the right energy to go with it and I keep that as a guide and only pursue what feels right in my spirit.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was born and raised in the Bronx, NY aka “The Boogie Down”. I’m currently based in NYC but I also consider Atlanta as a second home for me as I frequently visit family and friends. I came from humble beginnings and creativity was second nature. I was into the arts and enjoyed creating drawings and paintings. I guess that is where the creative juices first began. My parents actually still have a portfolio of my artwork at their house, definitely a flashback moment I’ve always had an appreciation for creating things and making them your own. My personality was a combo of quietness and other times a social butterfly but it was definitely a balance between the two which is the same as an adult. Now that you brought this up it kind of all makes sense how ended up where I am today. Sometimes we really don’t even realize how our path’s are already set up for us. Thankful for it all!
