Today we’d like to introduce you to Emeka Smith.
Hi Emeka, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started this as a dream but as I begin to bring it to reality as I started using my skills on my sisters, their friends then my children as I begin to have them. As the days turned into years, I started with myself as I would see that being a plus-size woman, you was looked down on because you wasn’t a size two, lol! But I begin using my inner skills to show people that even with size, you could dress. After all the compliments I was receiving about how well I wore my clothes, I thought it would be a great idea to not only sell clothes that could accommodate plush dolls but to also educate them about first living the body your into allowing your inner you to work the styles that accommodate you.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I have to admit that it hasn’t been a smooth transition for me as I’ve been through so much to get to where I am from a divorce after 16 years, homeless, jobless, losing both parents within four years apart and all while still trying to put the pieces together on a minute basis to improve my lifestyle on more of a daily basis to more of a successful life for me as I continue to be the strong person I’ve had to be to get through this thing call life for myself.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m currently an employee with the State where I manage individual with mental and substance abuse disorders. I’m currently responsible for obtaining and assisting each client with maintaining their housing. I’m known for being a very peoples person who go over and beyond to make the right decision(s) for all of my clients as well as being that person that would be everyone together all while keeping us together as a team. I’m most proud of that I was given the heart that I have to assist people all while treating them the way I want to be treated regardless of the circumstances of an individual’s condition. What sets me apart is me and meaning that for me to be me, it’s inside of my heart, not just on it. And with just that little bit said I’m an amazing person that would assist anyone. My slogan is not to look down on anyone unless I’m assisting to pick them up.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice would be to never give up on what you want to do regardless of what people say or think about your ideas. Most of all, don’t allow your no supporters like family or friends keep you from reaching your dreams. Also, make sure to do your research and maintain your own growth as your collective understanding your success of an entrepreneur.
