Today we’d like to introduce you to Emmanuella (Funmi) Ford.
Hi Emmanuella (Funmi), it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always loved clothing. As a Nigerian-born woman, clothing helped me assimilate, make friends and fit in when we migrated to the United States. As time went on, clothing became a way of self-expression. Then I got into styling clients and magazine covers until 2020 when the pandemic happened and I had my baby. I leaned more into content creating and it’s been amazing ever since.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a mom of two and a wife, it’s never easy but having systems in place and schedules helps me out a lot! Also, learning to deal with body image issues and the trolls on the internet has been daunting but I’m navigating it with the help of my family and time off from the internet as needed.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a content creator and stylist. On my channels, I am known for relatable content, fashion and women empowerment. My greatest pride is helping women love themselves, live out their dreams and know they can do it all.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Whew, I’m not for everyone and that’s okay. Content creating can be very competitive and mentally draining and you can easily get lost trying to fit in and grow. Realizing that not everyone is your target audience, not everyone can be in your circle and not everyone is and will want to be your friend and that is okay.
