Check Out Evan Joell Gonzalez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Joell Gonzalez.

Hi Evan Joell, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up my parents, we’re both hairdressers and owners of Jade Salon of Atlanta. They always encouraged me to go into business for myself. I had watched them both open several businesses and that definitely inspired me to be a business owner one day. I worked at the salon after high school and that is when I realized I had the creativeness and work ethic to follow in their path. With their encouragement I moved to Atlanta and soon began my cosmetology studies at the Aveda Institute. I focused on learning as much as I could, with the hope that one day I too would have my own clientele and run the family business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I was younger I was very shy. I definitely didn’t have the confidence to carry on conversations with strangers. But after working in this Industry, I forced myself out of my shell. I gained confidence being out on my own and going to school those 2 years, that I am no longer shy. Communicating with so many different clients has definitely changed me for the better.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The majority of my clients see me for barbering and hair cutting services, but I enjoy it all. I am currently under going training at the salon to specialize in the Japanese hair straightening treatment. Our salon is very popular for this straightening process and Eventually, I will become the lead person doing those treatments at the salon.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories was when I received my black belt in Taekwondo. That was a pretty special moment that I was proud to have completed. I learned so much in those classes. We were taught the importance of disciple, and perseverance. I have used those teachings in every aspect of my life. I have recently joined jujitsu another martial arts I hope to master as well. . I think it’s important to maintain extra curricular activities into adulthood.
