Today we’d like to introduce you to George Acquah
Hi George, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Yung Aqua is an Upcoming Artist from Eatontown, New Jersey. We started selling CDs out of the trunk in 2005, then moved to social media sites like MySpace, Soundclick, & Soundcloud. Music has always been a part of my life! Growing up playing in a Band & taking chorus inspired me the most to make music. My music influences growing up were Cash Money, Ruff Ryders, & Roc A Fella. Growing up, my favorite rappers were Lil Wayne, BIG, Naughty by Nature, Jay Z, & Redman. I am a fan of all genres, so artists like MJ, Babyface, Dru Hill, & Jagged Edge also inspired me. Currently, I am working on my 4th album ReFocus 4 which will be released on all digital platforms this June. It is an amazing feeling to be able to express ourselves through art. Music is the Universal Language so it’s only to speak it fluently.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Always speed bumps and potholes on the journey, but I’ve maneuvered so swiftly around that. The biggest challenge is staying focused and making sure all your mixing is done right. For the most part, everything has been a smooth road and a fun experience that will remain a part of my story. I have met a lot of great people and built my own Independent music label called “Outer$pace Focu$ed” on which I release my projects. The process of recording and performing has always been my favorite part of this journey. To keep everything smooth for me is about consistency and working every day towards the main goal where I want my career to go. I plan on dropping a new single every month of this year to continue my growth as an artist and Entrepreneur.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work is the Focused Movement We specialize in staying about business & your vision. I’ve produced several tracks for artists what sets me apart is crafting a sound that’s distinct for the artist to stand out. Also, I dropped 30 mixtapes on Datpiff before they shut down which really helped build my movement up to where we are at. My work is about staying consistent & helping other artists & producers build a strong fanbase in their genre. I’ve recently just released a new single that just dropped on all platforms called “What A Week” Produced by the Grammy award-winning Producer Tone Jonez. My new single “What A Week” is now on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube and all Streaming services. My work also consists of Audio Engineering & Video Directing for upcoming artists that need assistance.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Keep putting music out and staying creative with new platforms to push your sound. Always stay creative and motivated. Dreams don’t work unless you do. Always try new programs & new sounds with your music, and never limit yourself to being in one state. Travel & meet new people in new areas to grow your movement, I think networking in major cities & using social media as a tool to elevate is a big part of this industry. Also, being available to do features and collaborate with your peers and other people outside your genre is the best way to network. Post on social media regularly when you get the time & contact people you wanna work with they might respond back. Try being your own mentor and never depend on anybody.
