Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgie Murphy
Hi Georgie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Georgie Murphy, a Canadian actor passionate about bringing authentic, compelling stories to life on screen. Since graduating in 2021, I’ve been fortunate to work extensively across film, television, and streaming platforms, building a body of work that reflects my love for diverse and challenging roles.
Some of my recent highlights include a recurring guest star role on Prime Video’s GEN V (2025), a series regular spot on CBC’s Small Achievable Goals (2025), and a role in Prime Video’s Obsession (2025), where I had the pleasure of working alongside Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia. Other credits I’m proud of include CBC’s One More Time (2024), FOX’s Accused (2023), CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries (2023), Sony’s Christmas By The Book (2022), and the sci-fi thriller Safehaven (TBD).
I’m continually inspired by the opportunity to explore new characters, collaborate with talented teams, and connect with audiences through the stories I tell. Whether it’s a heartfelt drama or a gripping thriller, I strive to bring honesty and depth to every role I take on. I think this is what has allowed me to establish myself as a go-to actor in Television and Film.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road; I moved away from home at 14 to pursue acting, it was necessary for me to establish myself as a key actor in television and film. While the challenges were significant—adjusting to independence, navigating uncertainty, and building a foundation far from my family—they shaped my resilience and determination. That experience gave me the strength to stand on my own two feet and pursue my dreams with purpose.
Another challenge I faced was switching from theater to film/television. Long before I was a screen actor, I was a child actor in professional theater. This was some of the best training I ever received, but when it came time to switch mediums, I found myself experiencing a learning curve. But, like anything worth while, I knew it was going to take time and effort. So, I enrolled myself in specific film/tv acting classes and didn’t look up until I was confident in my ability to act on camera.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in more dramatic roles, and I have since I started my career. Although, I was able to flex my comedic chops on the upcoming series Small Achievable Goals. Most of the characters I play are incredibly offbeat and often very dark, for instance in my upcoming series I play a very creepy true-crime podcaster.
I am most proud of my work on the upcoming Sci-Fi thriller Safehaven, it has been my favorite role to date. I play Jenna Frost, a paranoid comic book artist that finds herself in a world she can’t quite understand.
I think what sets my apart from others is my ability to completely lose myself in a role, and dive fully into the circumstances of the character. I have attributed this skill to a lot of training with some of the world’s best drama teachers and schools such as The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and Carnegie Mellon University.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Definitely persistence, gratitude, and respect for the people around you!
