Check Out Gianna Dior’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gianna Dior.

Hi Gianna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Gianna Dior is an independent singer/songwriter originally from Milwaukee, WI. My mother discovered I could sing at the tender age of five and from there, began captivating growing audiences. Like many singers, I got my start in the choir at church and performed with a locally known children’s non-profit theater company. We traveled for performances throughout the city and Chicago, IL. From there on, I knew then music was more than a part of me, it was in me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
After graduating high school in Milwaukee, my mother and I relocated to Dallas, TX to broaden my musical journey. While there continuing school, I took an interest in becoming a licensed massage therapist, which I accomplished in 2016. Being in this field allowed me to gain more awareness of what I was really missing… Music. Though I love and enjoyed being able to help people through natural healing, my heart and purpose always led me back to music. Although I had a mental fear of failure within myself, I needed to push myself in the right direction in being an independent artist. It was tough navigating my way but I’ve connected and built friendships with people who are also a part of the music industry that have helped push me to pursue my music.

In time, I learned that fear was only a barrier I let hold me back. It was life experiences and tragic losses of loved ones that gave me the fire I needed to go and never look back. On Thanksgiving of 2020, my mother suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and stroke and that was my breaking point. It broke me to see my mom get sick, knowing she hadn’t seen me reach my fullest potential in music. Growing up, she told me she would have dreams of me performing on stages. Over the years, I knew that it wasn’t just a dream she had for me, it was my own dream she was seeing from a different lens. I prayed for a way to get through those tough times and pain, and God literally gave me music as my answer and outlet. I picked up my pen and pad and started writing again. In May of 2021, I got the opportunity to meet with Atlanta DFD Music’s Davis Chris and work on my debut single “Take Ur Time” which charted on the iTunes singer/songwriter charts. It was at that moment, I knew it was time to continue to soar. So has it been a smooth road? Not entirely, but I wouldn’t change the road it took to get me where I am now and I’m grateful.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Gianna Dior’s contribution of music includes raw authentic stories about life, love & relationships. I specialize in RnB, however I don’t place a limitation on my musical creativity, especially if the music speaks to me. Aside from my talents and being hardworking, my mindset, personality and attitude all holds a vibe and experience that sets me apart from others. My energy can fill and light up a room. I strive for my voice to be heard. I want to use it to show people that no matter what their purpose and dream is, it can be done too. Hard work goes a long way. Everything you do today matters, tomorrow and so forth. I’m most proud of myself for who I’ve become and seeing my own dream turn into my reality. I’m even more excited about what more there is to come.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Growing up, my mother had a children and adult theater company in Milwaukee, WI. For one particular show, I remember having to learn oldie but goodie, Martha Reeves – “Dancing In The Street” and perform at the Jewish Community Center along with other performers doing their pieces. I will never forget that performance and the crowd interaction I received as a little girl. It was electrifying just having fun, being myself, doing what I loved while portraying a major name in our music history. Everyone in the crowd, young and older, loved every bit of the show. I sang my heart out like I was singing to Martha herself and I hopped off stage to dance with the people in the crowd like we really were dancing in the street. I gave away t-shirts afterwards for support. It was an experience to see and an even better one for me to see the smiles on people’s faces.
