Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Kyng.
Hi Greg, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started at a friend’s studio one afternoon, me and him were always talking music and what we wanted to do in life after becoming rappers. I told him that I never recorded a song before, he suggested that I should record one with him at his studio, the experience was definitely something different. At the studio, we went through a few beats until I found one that I felt was right for me. After a few takes, I finally got the song finished, after he cleaned it up and got finished mixing and mastering the track, I had the chance to really hear myself. After that moment, I knew what wanted to do, my passion for music was officially born!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest struggles I had in my career was marketing. I didn’t have a clue on how to properly promote my music. Because it takes more than just dropping music and praying that it gets to the right people, it takes a solid marketing plan to get the music out.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
One of the things that I’m proud of is creating my own website, it definitely shows an artist in a different light when you have your own platform. Selling merch has been a very valuable source of income that has helped fund my career.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Music. Music makes me happy because it gives me life, it gives me energy, I literally can’t go a day without it.
