Today we’d like to introduce you to Jabari Higgs-Salaam.
Hi Jabari, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was a track & field athlete at first, but wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life. I was always into creative producing (through NIL partnerships with major brands like adidas crocs cerave & Gillette fusion), simply because I liked it. Wanting to bring my own ideas to life led me to pick up a camera and begin documenting moments around me—friends, travel, everyday life—and quickly realized how powerful visual storytelling could be. What began as curiosity turned into discipline as I taught myself how to shoot, edit, and direct with intention.
Over time, I leaned deeper into culture-driven content, working on projects that blended music, fashion, and storytelling. Each opportunity helped me sharpen my eye, understand production from multiple angles, and learn how to bring ideas to life both independently and on a team. I’m still building, but everything I’ve done so far has been about growth—getting better every rep, staying curious, and positioning myself to contribute creatively wherever I’m placed.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. Struggling to stay relevant in a competitive city, moving with more goals than plans, keeping both feet in the doors I step in, it’s all been a challenge. In a place like it Atlanta, the only two options are to swim or drown
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a visual content creator working across photography, videography, and editing, with a strong focus on culture-driven storytelling. I specialize in capturing moments that feel authentic and intentional—whether that’s behind-the-scenes content, short-form video, or visuals that support music and brand narratives. I’m known for having a clean eye, strong framing, and an ability to translate energy and emotion into visuals that feel natural rather than forced. I’m most proud of my growth and consistency. I’ve built my skill set largely through hands-on experience—learning by doing, improving by experiencing failure, and staying disciplined about learning from those failures. I take pride in being reliable, adaptable, and easy to work with, especially in fast-paced creative environments.
What sets me apart is my mindset. I don’t just think like a creator, I think like a collaborator and a student of the culture. I’m always observing, listening, and looking for ways to add value beyond the camera—whether that’s supporting the vision, anticipating needs on set, or finding small details that elevate the final product.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Your network is your net worth. Finding yourself in rooms where the people in there are the person you see yourself being in the future is huge. You need to mold your present self into your future self until it becomes a present reality.
Also it takes a village. My brother/business partner Wapo (dripsetstudios) has been my biggest support system throughout my whole journey, & part of my growth is through his effort & determination to keep me at the best version of myself. Without him, a lot of things wouldn’t have been possible for me
