Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacara Freeman.
Hi Jacara, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Her Beautique was born in 2019, during a time when I didn’t feel like myself. I was a new mom and a new wife, and it was very easy to lose myself in those responsibilities. Don’t get me wrong—I love being a mom and a wife—but I also wanted to just be Jacara.
I was only 23 years old when I had my son and got married. I needed something that was just for me. I also wanted to help people be their best selves. So, I decided to go to school to become an esthetician, with the goal of becoming my own boss! I always knew I wanted to work for myself. To know me is to know that I’m very bossy—so why not?
It was the best decision I ever made. That’s when Her Beautique came to life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No—it hasn’t been easy. In the beginning, things were very bumpy. When I graduated from school, I wanted to work at a spa doing facials. But it was during COVID, and no one was hiring. Even after everything opened back up, I applied to job after job—and no one ever called me back.
So, I stayed at the job I already had, even though it had nothing to do with esthetics.
I was scared to go solo because I didn’t have the experience or a clientele. I like to be very prepared for anything I do, and at that time, I just didn’t feel ready. During my first year as a licensed esthetician, I only did facials on family and friends—and that was it.
But then, God told me to leave the job I was at and step into my purpose. He told me to go work in my field. I had no job offers nothing he said put in a two weeks so I did. A wax studio was the only place that would hire me. Waxing wasn’t part of my original plan—but at least I was finally doing something in my field. The wax studio that hired me was the worst job I ever had. I loved my clients and what I was doing but not the work place.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
So now, I’m a full-body waxer! I made a pivot from facials to waxing, and I truly believe it was God’s plan all along—because no facial spa would hire me. And now? I absolutely love waxing! I specialize in Brazilian waxing and also help women who struggle with hyperpigmentation all over their bodies.
What I’m most proud of is having the faith to start something and the strength to keep it going—especially through tough times and a challenging economy.
What sets me apart is my faith. I don’t do anything in my business without praying first. I pray over my business, my clients, and everything connected to it. That’s why the experience at Her Beautique is different. My clients receive exceptional service, and I make sure they leave feeling like family. I’m one of a kind—and so is the experience I create.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Don’t give up, even when things don’t go as planned.
It’s okay to make changes and pivot. Trust the process—there will be ups and downs, but learn from them and keep going.
If you’re a woman of faith, allow God to lead you. His plans are not our plans, and He always knows what’s best.
